I like to condense etudes like this into one octave. That helps me establish it in my ear. Once I can do that well, I slowly expand into what is written.

They are a short note that are either on the beat or before. For low brass player more often they are before the beat but it depends on the style and time period of the music.

I haven't recorded this on tuba. As far as I know it is not in a tuba etude book but it could easily be played down an octave on tuba.

@@RealTimeFun I don't believe it exists. Perfect opportunity to practice reading down an octave which is a crucial skill of a tuba player for reading string bass parts.

@@LowBrassU Agreed. For our region music this year that hasn't been released yet, there is a potential etudes packet which is for trombone, but they use the same etudes for all low brass. I have been trying to read up an octave on those to practice the skill.

That's amazing. I saw your euphonium version of this and am still trying to do these trills on trombone, I just didn't know how. Can you please explain how you did it?

So first thing is that lip trills take time and at least in my experience there isn't a way to do it overnight. My approach is to start much higher than most of these trills. Higher lip trills can often be easier. I would start with F to G above the staff in 4th/sharp 4th position. I try to play the note in between and oscillate between the two notes.
