Daivaradhane is practised in the coastal region of Karnataka which is still practised today. Daivardhane refers to the worship of spirits of guardians and ancestors by conducting rituals and ceremonies.
Daivaradhane plays a much important part in the religious life of the people of Tulu Nadu. It is really very difficult to decide how old this custom or practice of worshipping the Daivas is, but believed to be one of the time-honoured Dravidian cults. Daivas also plays an important role in the administration and judiciary system of Tulu Nadu.
Dravidians worship their ancestors. It is believed that there is more than 1000+ Daivas in Tulu Nadu. But only few are more popular and worshipped in all parts of Tulu Nadu. while other spirits are worshipped by certain individual family or in certain region only in a modest way. Each daivas has its own story and Reason for worshipping.
Daivardhane is primarily concerned with the most basic forms of worshipping nature and our ancestors. There was no concept of writing. This was a sequence of exercises and directions. Thereafter different changes have been made to different practices looking at historical experience during the exploration and discovery path. It had a huge impact on frameworks and tools. Later these practices have been dominated by the passage of time. The theory behind the ritual has been broken and people begin to alter blindly, which affects the main cause of worshipping Daivas. so, we must first see why we worship and then try to continue to worship as our ancestors did.

If anyone needs info here you go :- •They are not trying to cause any harm to the people by jumping over them nor are they angry, usually when there is a kola and a daiva possess the man, they tend to run away, so they need to be controlled.. they do not harm people unless they have committed bad things in their life •Here is how guliga was born :- One day Shiva & parvathi were dancing in Himalayas, when you dance you tend to sweat. after they finished dancing, parvathi baught Shiva boodi (ashes), when Shiva applied the boodi he started to itch his hand agressively . Parvati tried to stop him but he couldn't stop. When he took that part of the boodi and threw it on a stone, guliga was born. But truly these kola's are truly phenomenal & are totally worth it to watch! 🙏

@@salonisahoo9483 actually they are people who get possessed by the daivas, when the get possessed they are out of control. And in movies (like KANTARA) they show the daivas doing actions, but yes they do actions when it is needed, so in that kola if there was a sinner then the daiva would show some actions... Daivas like panjurli usually give warnings and forgive the people but guliga will straight up punnish them if they are young or old! They are running in enthusiasm and joy of being summoned and worshipped by the people, you can see how they dance and jump it's all out of joy! they also tend to escape out into the forests and disappear (not disappear in sense you don't know where it has gone and you lose track of it), and that's why they have to be controlled.. hope that helped you..

@Saloni Sahoo guliga is the most powerful god of all, as you must have seen in kantara at last when people feed them, i went to my friend village first time and experienced it, they told after they get possessed there body gets heat up and they ask for food first but if you give them the food first the energy would not being drain which can be dangerous so they try to run away from there there are 2 theory on this people say they then themself try to find alive animals to eat if they run away and there are usually more faster than a human and the other theory is if you let them go they will either jump in a well or from a long tree that will hurt the human form of the possessed and will get bad energy to whole village after that and you can't call this god every year so no you have to wait atleast 2-5 years

@@sonia0105 Because Guliga is Like *Speedy Air* So... It want to go farway like Air.. So people wont allow... And a person called as Madhyasta will come and pray to him not to go away, but stay and bless us and tell all our fortune and help us....

People are not letting it go because if it goes it first goes to its stone and if it touches it then the man performing can even die and the kola has to be re performed
