Itsing Tour Details
*Itsing's travel description was first translated into English by Professor J.J. of Tokyo Imperial University. Takakusu did it in the name of 'A Record of the Buddhist Religion'. Itsing's travelogue was translated into Hindi by Santram BA, who was born on 14 February 1887 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
Itsing Biography
*Itsing was born in 635 AD at a place called Fun-yang in Chi-Li province of China.
Itsing was only 7 years old when he was taught the Dhamma by Shan-yu and Hui-hsi in a Buddhist Bihar in Shan-tung.
When Itsing was 12 years old, his mentor Shan-yu died. After the death of the Guru, Itsing was left alone and devoted his entire attention to reading religious books.
At the age of 14, Itsing got Pravrajya (becoming a Buddhist bhikkhu) and at the age of 18 Itsing had resolved to visit India for the first time.
*At the age of 37, ie in 671 AD, Itsing started the journey from China to India.
