You did a really job on that engine and it runs great too! A few years ago I painted an old Stewart RS3 into the C&NW paint scheme. I didnt go as far as you did with the grab irons though but it came out nice (it was an x blk Amtrak engine) One of my fav. paint schemes is the C&NW Pass. engine with all the stripes... a real one exists at the Union, Illinois RR Museum which Ive been to many of times... it looks great! Take care DD 😜 🤗

Thank you, yeah I had my doubts along the way but that last picture really clears up any doubts I had. I was kind of speechless about it myself.

Thank you, the ESU "economy" decoder needed a little tuning but it really did come out rather well. I really like the "drive hold" feature.

Another good CNW geep to add to the fleet. Came out very nice, you do great work. Question for you on your scenery. Is that static grass or did you use the mats. I just got the Static King Woodlands Scenics. I am very disappointed, looks like crap. And thanks for posting the video on the completed engine been waiting for it, and the SD-18, lol!
@CNW10252 жыл бұрын
SD-18...yeah working on getting to work on that one! kind of... The grass on the hill is the Heki grass mat, I wanted to do static there but had the same crap results you had, (about 6 years ago) so I gave up on it and used the mats. Which came out terrific and much less pain. However, since then, I got the Static King and really worked out how to do static. Let me tell you, the static king is legit. There are some tricks to it, but I am happy with the results after some practice and use it regularly. I use the woodland grasses for the shorter stuff and if I want to do a tall grass I use the Noch 11mm. For instance, the hill by Kenny Boiler is all static king with 11mm Noch. Also I use woodland static tac, and I shake the applicator up/down not side to side which I think really sticks the grass into the tac and I spend a lot of time holding the applicator over the grass once its planted in order to stand the fibers up, then I use a shop vac to very lightly vac over the planted grass, this helps to stand it up as well. Don't get discouraged with the static king, been there done that, figured it out, now I'm pretty satisfied.

@@CNW1025 You use the 9 volt battery or the transformer? I didn't buy the transformer but have a ton of those small 12 volt transformer. Can't get it to light up on any of my half dozen transformers, ranging in different amperage. But the batteries it lights up on. I don't get it.
@CNW10252 жыл бұрын
@@cnwtrain I do use the OEM transformer, 12vdc 1.5A. My guys at the hobby shop told to absolutely get the transformer. Maybe that the issue with your results is the lower voltage of the battery. But it should still light up with any good 12v transformer

@@TrainWork I've figured out that you have to select the higher setting for resolution. A couple of my earlier videos were SD because I did not know. The latest ones are 1080 or 4K and holy crap there is a difference! But also takes longer to upload and process. Still worth it though.

I have lots of respect for KCS units, its one of my favorite paint schemes in fact, but in this case it was the easiest one to use! Sorry!
