@@MedicosisPerfectionalis You refer to CRP in your video as an "active" compound of the immune system, hence the "reactive". Therefore and for my understanding, and from what I can read in the literature, CRP is far from a mere "biomarker". It can be used as one, but the classification is wrong by your own statements in the video. TroponinT is a biomarker, as it is part of cardiomyocytes. It is released into the blood stream after heartmuscle damage and can be measured as a sure indicator of myocardial infarction and dying cardiomyocytes. CRP in contrast is a pentraxine, just like antibodies, and has the capability of detecting "foreign to the body", as you said, like bacteria, and non-physiologic, like necrotic cells. Even further it is able to not just recognize necrotic, therefore already dead cells, but also dying cells (that may become necrotic and would be posing a threat to be body in the future by becoming septic), that still have the capability to regenerate. Wherein lies the problem of CRP not being able to differentiate between already dead and gone cells or cellmembraneparts, bacteria and not yet dead cells. COVID-19 was the best example for a viral infection, with a massive uptake of CRP-Synthesis right before patients with pneumonia would ventilators and eventually died later on. The publication here descibes the active role of CRP in the cause of illness and cell damage. I highly recommend it: www.frontiersin.org/journals/immunology/articles/10.3389/fimmu.2021.630430/full

That's super informative and you're really witty. :D I was wondering, what does it signify when esr levels don't fall down post covid recovery? I've been tested positive twice since last year. And ever since that, esr and CRP levels never returned to normal range. I'm not facing any physical discomfort whatsoever. Yet the readings. Should I be worried?
@CaptainVelveeta2 жыл бұрын
I'm no doctor but no, you shouldn't be worried. There are all kinds of labs that may read high but are not treated because the patient is asymptomatic. Throw in the fact that we know nothing about how Covid-19 works, lives and plays, as long as you're not symptomatic then there's no need to worry. I would, however, advise increasing activity to strengthen the lungs. That's always a good idea regardless of the condition.
