God led me out of hating my fellow man and submit to the various authorities in my life rather than try to persuade or resist them. Whoever you are, I am on your side in the truest sense. They call it Peace. Love and gratitude go hand in hand. I used to be very resentful and had all sorts of data and news tabulated about politics and who was wrong. Recently deleted all of it. Used to argue online a LOT. I used to hate authority if they were wrong, and, although loving my family very much, I did not have the respect and deep appreciation I should have had for them. I love God because, as the Bible says, He first loved us. He has changed all of this. I am a lover and not a hater. And Christianity did it. Christ did.

I once heard "religion" defined as, man's attempt to reach up to God. We should all strive for righteousness, which is God successfully reaching down to man through the act of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. To receive it, all we have to do is realize we are a sinner and to ask Jesus to forgive us and save us, confessing that he is LORD and trusting him as Savior. And time is running out.

@iOS SANOS Hello and thank you for your reply; I didn't expect it. Yes please! Whatever else you have of this marvelous man and his most stirring, penetrating prose, would be most welcome. I made that comment because even in Christian circles (think of televangelists and their hyperactive followers) Lewis is either not read, or not understood. Somewhere on KZbin is a man, supposedly Christian, who derides Lewis as being a child of the devil. A miserable fool, to be sure. Cheers!

He's correct about Christianity will progress slowly because many who come to Christ when at their wits end or some form of sickness or the loss of a loved one I e by accident or willful tyranny they will fall away. Sadly because I believe the scriptures ( all of it) we know many will not see heaven. No I don't dwell on such matters as it is by Jesus I'm am to go a make disciples of others , living by example or being ready to defend my belief in such a way that it draws others near. At that point it's the work of the holy spirit that will convict a person if the Truth. May God continue to use me and my fellow brothers and sisters to unit as the body of Christ to spread the greatest gift that we will ever know . WALKING,TALKING,SINGING, LAUGHING AND WORSHIPPING OUR LORD AND SAVIOR FOREVER IN HIS PRESENCE AMEN AND HALLELUJAH. ‘The religion that declined was not Christianity’ ....so true Christendom has declined so far from its model Jesus and his Apostles, what they taught and how they lived that it is virtually unrecognisable. Firstly from the 4th century in fulfilment of Jesus prophecy of ‘the wheat and the weeds’ churches that claimed to be christian adopted pagan teachings which persist right to this day, also they compromised on the moral principles that Jesus taught to remain popular with the common people and the political systems. The people have just ‘assumed’ that some of their main their beliefs are actually from the Bible and millions still do,as the religious leaders feed them of ‘crumbs’ instead of solid Biblical truth. Then World War 1 came and many woke up to the hypocrisy when they saw ‘Christians’ going to war by the millions, killing other Christians but each denomination believing that ‘God was on their side’. This was repeated again in WW2 and thinking people saw that what they thought was supposed to be ‘Christianity’ had nothing to offer them so they adopted the ‘eat dink and be merry for tomorrow we die’ philosophy with the resulting breakdown of marriage and the family which progressively worsened right up to now. Now there’s absolutely no Bible based sexual morality left and churches accept all of this stating ‘love’ as their excuse but they conveniently forget that God is also a God of judgment as well as love. Now many who go to church ‘choose’ their church like it’s something to be chosen in a supermarket, whatever suits them. They view God as a “celestial waiter’ who they click their fingers at whenever they want something to go their way then blame God when it doesn’t. There’s no understanding that we’re here to serve God not the reverse. Fortunately were living in the last of the last days when God will intervene to restore all things.

Man has made most of his "improvements" to the human condition in the absence of faith in God. He finds little help from his gods, aside from moral support in his suffering. Is it man's fate to suffer in pursuit of divine redemption,, or shall he create his own? I see it like this... if man fails to create a world of compassion and equality on his own, he can fall back on faith, but if he leans on faith as his only means of redemption, he may never achieve compassion and equality. Christianity offers individual redemption, a selfish pursuit indeed.

It certainly sounds to me that you don't understand Christianity nor redemption nor is it likely since you don't understand those things that you can understand compassion. As for equality pursuit of that is an absurdity in the absence of God.

@@johnjon1823 Redemption comes from within. If you cannot forgive yourself, no allegiance to an imaginary god will help.

@@timhallas4275 Without God there is no need to forgive yourself because then you are a mere accident of nature in a universe which is also accidental and therefore no morality will apply so there is nothing to forgive, either of yourself or anyone else. If you need forgiveness then you admit to the existence of God whether you know it or not. Without God everything is arbitrary.

@@timhallas4275 God is the eternal uncreated Being who made all that exists and He sustains it in existence. His existence is manifestly self evident. He is the thing you admitted exists by your tacit admission of the need to forgive yourself, which you mistake for redemption. Otherwise your arbitrary and accidental existence would mean you never need any forgiveness since your very existence and all that it involves is mere chance, meaningless. But, since you admit your need to self forgive, you admit that existence is not mere chance, nor meaningless, you admit God exists.
