finally, a desprately needed update... I really loved how cinestrings samples blend so well. loved that mic positioning and sony's natural ambient made a full natural sound that no other libraries had... But the unnatural legatos and noises in particular samples just made it unusable. thats really why it never took off like the cinebrass series. hope this update will be a game changer for this library.. will def check it out.

100% agree. I love the tone of CS but the legatos were nearly unusable for me with all kinds of weird volume jumps and artifacts. Really glad there's an update.

Loving 2.0! Thanks for your effort with this. A thought: I'm playing with the "arco articulations velocity" mapping preset, and it seems like it should be programmed with an "and" that the sustain pedal is set to up, so that the short notes aren't activated when playing sustains. It took me a minute to figure out that the accent overlay wasn't set to on... Much appreciated!

Hey, Cinesamples. Can you give back the range on all the instruments? They’ve all had tremendous reductions excluding maybe the ensemble patch. Please restore it, and don't make us pay for it in Cinestrings Pro or something. The update is pretty much all round perfect, but I must regress to 1.4.0, which has terrible noise problems most evident on the basses that requires heavy, adverse EQ, or something like the pricy RX plugin. Also, is it possible to do something like merge this update with the previous one to allow 1.4.0 to use the 2.0 samples? And is it possible to make 2.0 compatible with Kontakt 5 to prevent scores of broken projects? Thanks.

The new UI is nice and elegant, the noise has been reduced, the strings sound great, I love the excellent sound quality, like everything Cinesamples makes... but I preferred the old version. Why have all the great snapshots and multis that the old library used to have been removed? The response of the new mapping presets does not have the same quality as before (quality that the Cinebrass and Cinewinds presets continue to maintain). I sincerely believe that there is a lot of room for improvement in Cinestrings. Precisely one of the things I like most about Cinesamples is how fun and realistic it is to play with their libraries; IMHO, the new Cinestrings Core patches are not up to par with the old ones. I bought a library with many patches that now simply no longer exist after the update! And I have also tried programming the sounds myself, but in this case it does not work as efficiently and as professionally as before. It is a pity...

After playing around with it for these 2 days, I'm slightly confused. The appeal is the room and that it's recorded/mixed like a real session would be and that has always been the case with CineStrings. I understood it may sound a little different than before but I didn't think it would sound this generic. Harsh but it's the best word I can think of right now. It doesn't have as much as a character as it used to, in fairness, this could be placebo due to the new interface. I'm curious what you all think. Does it sound flatter?

Much needed update! Looking and sounding great! One thing I'm wondering is how consistent are the sample start delay times from articulation to articulation and instrument to instrument. I don't play keys, so I write music gridding notes on the piano roll. Could I just use one patch per instrument, write whatever I want, grid away and have everything playing in time without having to drag the note starts back?

With regard to the round robins, it would be much better if you could deactivate the samples with a mouse click. For example as "dots". if i don't like sample 4, i deactivate round robin 4 by clicking on the 4th dot

Very Good Job, the improvements on the samples and the complete new gui, it was time to bring this beautiful warm tones to modern times. Two questions. How can I activate tremolo sul pont like it was included in the older version? And when we can hope for a cinebrass core and pro update, especially to have the same gui?

I'm glad to see the sound wasn't affected too much by the cleanup as in some other libraries, however the random futzing around is a bit odd...also sounds like it's still the same bow change legato which was the main issue of the original...would have been great to have some programed fingered legato. And playing legato without dynamics is also very strange...not sure what's going on here...LOL Shorts sound great though.

I have tried everything with the settings on Kontakt and Logic Pro 10.7.6, 64Gb ram 12 Core Intel Xeon. Library is housed in Thunderbolt LaCie SSD and all I get is awful latency and clicks and pops. My work flow is rendered completely useless. Great update just can't use it, so pointless.

This looks pretty cool. So the quantize button at 13:40 looks similar to the Quantize mode that is in the settings on 1.x versions. When you turn that on you get a delay value pop up in ms. I've always had to go and set the track delay on my DAW to be that number and it... kinda works. Does this new version not require a track delay to be set on the DAW?

You will need to get "Native Access 2" to see the new library, and once you see the new graphics there, you just need to back up your original library and "Re-Install" to get the new content. It had to be this way because it's a "samples + patch" update

Are you downloading to a different folder? and or have you checked in Kontakt itself. I reinstalled it as a whole and loaded up kontakt before hand just to make sure it loads in. Worked fine.

Looks like Amazing Tech, but gosh, it just doesn't sound as, ummm, POWERFUL, as your other libs. Why is that? Maybe the voluem in your voice compared to, or it seems so in the distance and a little weak.

I've noticed in the 2.0 version Cinestrings Core that the vibrato slider doesn't work for me like it used to in pervious versions On my end if the fader is to the left, a new note will not have vibrato, but then you can't add vibrato to that note by moving an assigned CC. If you move it to the right, a new note will have vibrato but you can crossfade back to non-vibrato. Is there something wrong with my install? Is this a scripting issue? Also why is that fader called “vibrato/trem?” Does this infer some nonexistent tremolo feature? A feature request- I wish the short overlay feature was velocity sensitive! Seems like an oversight that it is not! There is a threshold you can set to trigger a short attack, and you can switch between three different attacks, but they are heard at the same velocity. So, if I set the attack threshold at zero because I always want attacks, I'll just hear a one-velocity attack when my assigned CC for the sustain is at pianissimo. This is how previous versions work also. I also wish you would provide some predetermined basic sequential key switches. This way I could quickly make articulation maps in my DAW without having to go to each instance and creating key switches that are usually present by default in most other libraries. I tried you’re all articulation preset mapping, but it does not work in a very straightforward way.

I have found the issue. There is a scripting issue. The vibrato fader doesn't work correctly "out of the box." It only works correctly after you make your first custom mapping. If I load an instance of Violins 1 let's say, click on sustains and move the fader on a single note, you can't crossfade between vibrato and non-vibrato. As soon as I set up keyswitches in their custom map section (there are none by default) the fader then behaves correctly.

add another instance of cinestrings with the patch you want and set it to midi out 2/3/4 etc. no need for another kontakt instance.

I can see this is NOT a fundamental redesign. Still using hundreds of voices to play a single legato line, a waste of CPU. RAM usage still at ~2 GB per microphone per instrument. Still no way to have a firm attack on the 1st note of a legato phrase -- bad choice if one wants to compose a phrase with alternating legatos and attacks. And no, the overlay feature shown at 27:00 has never helped this, since one can clearly hear it's a short sample on top. I am not even going to bother installing this update, which obviously does nothing about the most important complaints we've had for ages. No change to the code that plays the samples, just little more than a change to the GUI, which in my opinion did not need any change. I regret buying this library, I have never been able to use it due to the above defects. The delay/quantization feature shown at 13:40 is a very welcome addition... to an unusable sample library. This GUI does more with fewer tab changes. But this is not what the product really needed. Lots of great string libraries out there, this one remains one of the worst.

@@MalteWegmann you will need to make sure you have Native Access 2 installed, then back up your original library and do a full "Reinstall" of Cinestrings Core. That should do it! We had to set it up that way because it is a "samples + patch" update

I downloaded 2.0 with the re install option via Native Acess 2 and it says that I need Kontakt 7. But on the website of cinesamples it says Kontakt 6.7.1 and higher. Now I have 83 GB data and the old gui. Has anybody a idea to resolve this?

(TL:DR = it works on both now the free K7 player or 6x full) That's just NI trying to push it because now they are encoded for the free player (k7) too, so if it asks you select don't install or when you start downloading Cinestrings check the download bar and if there's a parallel K7 download, cancel it.

Maybe it's me, but comparing the strings sound to the stock ones in logic pro, these don't sound any better plus the massive file size putting so much weight on cpu and memory. Nope, think I'll pass on this.

I don't know why but when I listen to this, I feel like it's still missing something. In my opinion, the sound is pretty bland. The bass lacks presence, and the highs don't sparkle.

Please try and play suitable spiccato parts when showing the spiccato articulations, This triplet melody you are playing is totally outside what one expects to hear for spiccato. It should be rhythmic and insistent, not melodic. The way you play this inappropriate phrase I can't tell whether your library spiccatos are good or not. I intend to spend my money buying it.
