Only recently decomishoned my C1. A bit old and bruised. A friend has it now, so it lives on. I went with the Matt Og set up of SS 2216 1250kv & 8x6/8x8 prop on 4S 5200 with FPV and Vector (using the 3D printed shelf over the batt) Good for 30+min flights. Its is a cracking airframe and your right, its size makes it easily portable. Things have mved on though, so if i were to replace it, I'd go for the Vortigaunt from e-wings in the UK.

I love my C1. It flies nice and will glide forever. I have mine setup with iNav on a Matek F405 wing. I 3d printed a fpv nose cone for it to mount the camera in and help with the balance.

I built my chaser with ss 2212 1400kv, 40amp predator esc eagle tree guardian and zippy compact 2200mah 4s, 7x6 prop and mobius on the front of hatch, it flies really well, goes vertical but also cruises, make sure you slope it

Wow the mods you have installed on that tetradactyl are amazing, great job Andrew. The attitude adjustment is very significant. The last time we saw that bird it was one cranky volatile entity kicking the hell out of a shipping container. Great build as usual. Can't wait to see it on the slope.

Brilliant build and video as always, thanks. I just got a C1 as well, and I decided to move the motor back by gluing on a circular GF/PCB board. The rear of the fuse opening is not level, though, so I decided to hobby knife it level and adjust the thrust angle for more hirizontal at the same time. I, too, have the FX-61 and Z-84, so looking forward to seeing how it flies.

I moved my C1 motor mount to the rear just yesterday. It reduces the noise and probably cools the motor more.

Their great wings, I have a 2200kv motor 7x6prop, on mine and I only run 3s, 2200mah with a heap of lead, only one battery ...... and it screams along!! very quick, it bungy launch's well too... great wing! very quick on 4s for me it would be too FAST!!

They are a nice wing, very well mannered, my only complaint is the foam is very soft and easily damaged, but I laminated mine which also stiffened it up a lot. I've had more OSD's and F/C's in the C1 than any other plane, it just gets used like an experimental test bed. I also moved the motor back with rubber mounts, it's now very quiet.

Spoiler alert! I experimented with bubble wrap as a wing covering (with the bumps on the outside) as part of a research project on laminar flow aerofoil design and boundary layer turbulence. The plane had to be launched from a tee with a 3-wood and flew like a golfball straight into - What? Oh, right. Sorry. I'm lying. (It was a 4-wood.)

Hi Andrew, Recently I ordered a C1 Chaser kit and I'm happy to view your build and maiden tubes of the C1! And of course am a loyal viewer of all the knowledgable stuff you're presenting. When I viewed your C1 video, I noticed that there is no entry for cooling airflow in the body. Could the camera nose with the hole in it be used for that or is it unnecessary. I put the FPV on top so the hole does allow some airflow. Would only be an issue if you want to fly fast a lot.

I have one flying with the stock motor (2212 2200kv) / ESC / 6x4 prop from my Strix Stratosurfer. It flies great with a 3s 2200 battery. It should be good if it's light enough. When I flew it with a 4s 5200 the 2216 1250 was about as low as I'd go for kv since you are limited to a 8" prop.

Yes it's angled, motor mount only fits in one way to ensure the thrust angle is correct

I can't seem to decode the Chinese instructions that describe the C1's balance point. Is it 105-108mm forward of the two bumps in front of the spar (basically the join point of the wing to the fuselage), or 105-108mm rear of the join point (basically at the 2 bumps forward of the spar? Thanks to those that already figured this out...

Do you think it could work on a 2208 or would it not fit? (630g thrust) its what i have on hand and I want to do a very light and slow build powered ideally by a 1800mah 3s Additionally what is the outer diameter of the Motor "cowling" just in front of the Prop?

Yes that gear should work well as long as the CG is correct. 65mm outer and 45mm inner. Photo in the community section kzbin.infocommunity
