It's amazing how much the front view of these cars looks like the Ford Thunderbird of the early 2000s!

It was the favored style of the era, influenced by Ferrari.

@@carshowreporter Harley Earl claimed credit for the original Corvette design, as he always did. The original T-Bird was styled by Frank Hershey, a brilliant designer, all but forgotten today. A bit of speculation...but Hershey had just arrived at Ford, having decamped from GM. Given the similarity of the front end of the two cars, the Corvette could have been a Frank Hershey design as well!

Hershey was a giant in his field. Although he was at GM before Ford, he was not credited on the design of the Corvette. www.coachbuilt.com/des/h/hershey/hershey.htm Look at the Crosley Hot Shot, Ferrari, Cunningham and more had a very similar look. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_World_Sportscar_Championship

Harley Earl to Regulator: ''I'd like to put mesh in front of the lights, it wont cut back the illumination tooo much''. ''That's totally against regulations, why do you want it?''. ''Well, its a safety issue ..low flying Buffaloes , that sort of thing''. ''I'll have to get back to you''.
