My God, but the Lincolns of the 1970s look so strange now! Big, square, and ungainly. The best way to view them is from behind the wheel, cruising down the Interstate, because they made you feel so damn rich.

You got it, Tom! One felt like all was right in the world behind the wheel ... until you get into traffic, a curvy road, have to dock, I mean, park and feeding time at the gas station!

So who was responsible for the modern abomination that was the opera window in Lincolns? Oddly enough it may have been Frank Lloyd Wright!, with his personal 1940 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet V12 in Cherokee red complete with deleted back window!. _'' I never look backwards, always forward ''_ Apparently he painted all his cars in Cherokee red and owned a fleet of mini-cars including Bantams and Crosleys for staff and architects of Taliesin... in CR one imagines.

Lincoln started the modern, opera window fad. Well, what do you expect from the company which re-introduced the porthole and the modern interpretation of the Continental spare??!! Lloyd's taste in automotive styling was also, ah, shall we say, interesting.....
