One more comment that might save some dude alot of heart-ache is do NOT use anything "poly" it is the most unforgiving shit on the market. Back in the day I needed to put new body cab mounts on a '71 4x4 I believe, we installed them and come to find out NOTHING and I mean NOTHING lined up, doors would not fit to close etc. When we did get everything aligned and took it out I couldn't even drive it more than 40 mph and a couple of miles on the test drive it was so damn rough. I believe they were Energy Suspension and I reordered a set from LMC that were factory rubber. Put the new mounts in and it was a new truck.----- Just say'in. I try to help these dudes that look at KZbin before they start a build. I also get alot of calls for advice which is fine too. Cudo's for all your work on your build though !!!!!! Jim

Just FYI (a little late) for others who watch. The "broken" bolts on either end of the exhaust manifold are not broken off. They are just studs and help hold position when installing manifolds. Supposedly allow for expansion and contraction. Every Chevy 6 I have had are like that and they are shown in the Factory Service Manual. Well done videos. Some helpful techniques. Thanks

What are your thoughts on using the stock 2wd steering box and doing cross over steering instead of switching to a 4wd box?
@caseystrong20663 жыл бұрын
Is the point of changing to a high hump just to clear the 4wd shift linkage? or does everything sit higher with the 4wd cross member?

Enjoyed your video I’m in the process of doing the same thing I have a 67 GMC pick up converting it into a four-wheel-drive I’m having problems finding the front shackles for the leaf springs is that two pieces or one do you have any idea where I can find them.

I’m going to make the mounts.

Are you going to make them and sell them? I'd like a pair for my '68 GMC conversion.
@ramirosegovia89203 жыл бұрын
Hi it’s Ram I was watching your video again and I noticed when you were painting your frame I saw a gold bracket that you used to hold your Leaf spring. to the frame is that something you custom-made or something you bought and if you did buy it where did you get it from.

I’m going to start making and selling those

Hi it’s Ram if you are going to make your own mounts would you be interested in selling yours I’ve been having a hard time finding the front leaf spring mounts if I am correct those serve a dual purpose they hold the The body as well as The front part of the leaf spring a I thought about doing the same making my own but your picture is the first one that I’ve seen that shows exactly how they look.

Man I have a 78 k5 blazer 4x4 and I have no idea why you would want to do this. I hate driving my blazer cause to me it’s like very scary on curves with bumps. I really want to change mine over to 2 wheel drive.
@mrbritoweldingandautomotiv2542 жыл бұрын
I suggest you check all of your ball joints, tie rod ends and how much FreePlay you have in your steering box as well as what condition your steering shock is in. There should be no scary feeling when driving an old or four-wheel-drive truck if they are well-maintained.

Please (and I am not trying to be a smart-ass) tell me one good reason why in god's name would you do a "conversion" ??? I just retired after buying, selling, and doing just under 400 of these '67-'72 Chevy/GMC 4x4 trucks since 1979. I bet I bought 30-40 junk bodies on real good Midwest 4x4 frames. Pop out the VIN plate and to do it and be honest you have to list it as a rebuilt truck on the new title issued at the treasure's office at the court house. That's the only hassle in the whole process. You're hours in a conversion would be ten times the hours in a body switch !!!------Just say'in bud!!!! Jim
