You did an excellent job. A lot of work but in the end we can see you have updated the Vette for the better. I am working on my 1976 Corvette installing Inteletronix gauges in a blue color since my car is white with Buckskin interior. Tomorrow I start looking at installing an after market wiring loom as the dash is pulled completely off now and I have power windows and want to install power door locks with an alarm. I have owned the Corvette for 17 years and at 73 years old now I am wanting it finish it and updated it. Your Video gave me additional insights as well as courage to keep moving on with it. The inteletronix I am installing was pretty simple once gauges were removed and on the work bench they look good when I applied power for testing. I was wanting to go with Dakota or needle gauges like yours, but my wife liked the Blue digital and at $440 not a bad price. Good job with the Video as it was pretty professional and well made. 👍👍

Thanks so much for the comment and sharing your build plan. I just got back from a quick cruise in our corvette a few minutes ago. I’m hoping at 73 I can still climb under a corvette dash. LOL. I agree with your wife about the blue gauges they should look good. Hope the project goes good and your back on the road soon

Great tutorial! After about 20 years of looking and going through 3 other Corvettes, I finally purchased my dream '69. I need to figure out what to do with my gauges. Definitely going aftermarket for a more modern look, but not quite sure about the set up yet. Keep up the great work!

Great purchase on the 69 corvette. There are many after market gauges to choose from, not an easy decision. My car is a driver, so after market gauges worked out great for me. Thanks for watching!

Nice, I did almost the exact same thing, however I did not keep the stock plastic lens and retained the Autometer rings. I also had a similar reason for doing this project - converting the leaking oil pressure gauge to electronic. I added an oil temperature gauge in place of the clock, however (and voltage meter instead of ammeter). Like you, I wish I had space for one more for WB AFR but might put that somewhere else (or maybe the battery gauge is less useful). I have a Holley Sniper EFI and so I put the tiny LCD thing a few inches above where you had your original AFR gauge.
@33milegarage34
@33milegarage34 Жыл бұрын
Yea, I like your setup with the electronic oil pressure gauge much better, but I had to stay on budget. Locating a sixth gauge is tricky, not much room without sacrificing one of your current gauges or getting very creative. Keep me posted on where you decide to put the AFR gauge & how you like it. Thanks for watching!
@bitsandben
@bitsandben Жыл бұрын
@@33milegarage34 I'm actually thinking of putting the AFR gauge in the driver circular AC vent since I redid the ducting to actually come out right below the steering wheel (in a flat blade pattern like some leaf blower ends). The hole is just under 3 inches so fit the 2 5/8 gauge nicely. Dreading removing that dash again though.
@33milegarage34
@33milegarage34 Жыл бұрын
That's creative, a very cool stock look with a good sightline to see the gauge. Nice! Agree taking the driver's side of the dash apart is a bit of work.

I watched the whole video. You are a real meticulous mechanic. But in my case I have a 1972 T-top 4 sp. No AC base L48 that is 100 % Stock which I have owned for 51years. Purchased from the original owner in March 1973. No real plans at this time to modify anything, as I have many OEM spare gauges.

This is a great video! Do you have the part numbers for all the gauges you used? I have a '76 C3 and this is very useful. I'm also thinking 3D printed spacers would be useful.
@33milegarage34

All the Gauges are Auto Meter Sport Comp 2,s ATM-3621 Oil Pressure /ATM-3637 Water Temp / ATM-3692 Volts / ATM-3610 Fuel / ATM-3370 Wide Band. 3/D printing the spacers is a great idea. Thanks for the comment and good luck on the project!

Great work but do you have part numbers for the gauges????
@33milegarage34
@33milegarage34 8 ай бұрын
Thanks..Sorry I don’t have the part numbers. I used Auto Meter Sport comp 2 gauges the size was 2 1/16. All gages are full swept gauges meaning the numbers wrap around to the bottom of the gage vs the 180 that only go 1/2 way around. Most were stepper motor gauges with the exception of a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Hope that helps you out.

What is wide band gauge for ??? O2 sensor ?
@33milegarage34
@33milegarage34 Жыл бұрын
Yes, oxygen sensor. I used it for measuring air/fuel ratio. It’s great because you can view the air/fuel ratio thru the entire acceleration making it much easier to view and adjust rich/lean fuel ranges. Wideband can in general read air/fuel ratio 5:1 to 22:1 both cars I have read 8:1 to 18:1. Narrow band will in general read only 14.5:1 to 15:1. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.

@@33milegarage34 Modified the signal from O2 sensors signal to our Harleys ECU.. to Appx 13.1 from lean Kalifornia CARB 14.0 something. Installed an inline resister? guess you can call it that, between ECU and stock narrow band sensor, kinda like your wide band sensor, outfit called Knightride sells them. Fattened fuel mix enough to drop oil temp. 30F lowering engine temp.
