Great video. Well done. Concise, informative, no nonsense, and no annoying background noise/music. Your graphics are easy to read, too. My '16 C7 still has its original battery but, should probably be replaced this year. I've kept it on a Battery Tender Junior for three years now, so maybe that's why it's lasted this long. Thanks for doing the research and sharing it with us. Save the Wave👋

If you are going to own a C5,C6 or C7 right from the get go get yourself a Battery Tender. Also whether you work on your own car or not get yourself at least a 10 amp battery charger and a load tester. Both can be had at your local HF store for less then $75. All three items will be the best investment you ever made on your Corvette trust me. I have been driving and owning them for 50 years this year in 2020. I own 4 today all Coupes. C2,C3,C5 and C6. I know what I am talking about. I am also retired with 38 years in the Auto Parts business as owner. Just want to mention. Don’t try to charge your dead battery up using your Alternator after getting it jumped. Use that 10 amp or better battery charger instead. Your alternator doesn’t have the capability to recharge your battery fully only to put back in what you took out of your battery to start your car. On top of that it is a strain on your alternator using it with a dead battery.

@@DragonWarrior7771 No it is not. Those are portable battery jumpers. You need at least a 10amp battery charger, a separate load tester and a Battery Tender.

@@DragonWarrior7771 Not telling you what Battery Tender to purchase but I must own at last count maybe 12-13 Battery Tender Juniors. Amazon has them brand new for $24.98. The best $25 you will ever spend on your Corvette or Classic Car or for that matter any car you don’t use everyday. I keep one on all my Collector Cars. Even keep one on 2 Garden tractors,a Sport Utility Quad and even a gas Fork Lift I used for my business. Keeping one of these Battery Tender Juniors could double the life of your battery because it will never run low on power when sulfating attacks the inside of the battery during low charge. The Plus Side about it is if you so happen to live in a colder climate area where you have freezing temperatures keeping a battery tender on the battery will not let the battery freeze up. When a battery starts to get low in power the Electrolyte turns back to water and will freeze. Kept fully charged you won’t have to worry about that happening. When a battery freezes 9 out of 10 times it cracks the plates inside the battery making the battery useless. Just to mention if you so happen to own a AGM Battery the Battery Tender Junior will work with it fine. It is made for that type of battery also.

If you take the battery out this is a good time to clean the windshield drain utter. It's a pain to fish it back in but like all things on these cars might as well get it over with.

@StreetRodJim10 күн бұрын
Not as much until you don't drive it for two weeks after a vacation or so. There is computer components located right under the battery. Using a regular battery can leak on to the computer so an AGM is a good idea.

Hi Jim - Maybe I misunderstood your video, but thought you said the battery you bought was about $136. Checked the link that led me to Amazon and it's quoted at nearly $300. Granted, your video is roughly 3 years old, but could the cost rise that much over that time? Any idea about what battery I should buy for my 2001 Vetter now?
@StreetRodJim2 жыл бұрын
I think the shipping crisis has made prices sky rocket. All the specs are laid out in the video, but you can even go to GM parts department and get a battery.

I have. 2001 C5 Corvette. It's a daily driver. No cold storage. The car never sits more than 3 days in the garage. It is warm / hot in Florida and the AC is used in the car 90% of the time. I have a Ac Delco pro series 75VPG 700CCA 95RC. I have no clue if this is a AGM style battery? So far the car runs fine. No issues. Is this a good battery?

I can't tell if it is AGM either, but other specs are pretty good.

But why 120 rc tho I'm not understanding why this number
@StreetRodJim4 жыл бұрын
The higher the RC (reserve capacity) number, the longer the battery will run without being charged. Since Corvettes have had an issue with batteries dying while sitting in the garage only 3 weeks, having a higher RC will help against having a dead battery.

OPTIMA Batteries, Yellow top in the Vette, Red top in the SUV.
@jessebunker6062 Жыл бұрын
If you drive everyday, that's fine. Optima batt does not like a batt tender. They will fail and not be covered under warranty. As a lifelong corvette owner, ask me how I know.
