C5 Corvette 6 Speed Manual Review (Should You Buy One?)

Reviewing my 2003 C5 Corvette 6 speed manual. I’ll go over some of the things that surprized me about this car, the good things that I love and some of the things I dislike about the C5. Hopefully this will help some of yall decide if a C5 Corvette is right for you!

I'm the opposite. I think the flip up headlights are gorgeous. That's an 80's early 90's thing. It's vintage cool. If you get the "lazy eye" kit for the headlights, it looks pretty cool. I also like the ass end.

I love the concealed headlights! I remember when the C6 came out, I said to myself, “that’s not a Corvette!” I love the long, sleek, fighter jet look of the C5!

Best sports car for the money you can buy. I bought mine almost a year ago and man I can't be happier with it. You had to explain why did you choose a C5! Why a young guy now in 2024 with a c8 already choose a 21y/o c5 Vette. Euro C5 6mt millennium yellow Coupe here. ✌🏼

The c5 coupe is surprisingly quick! Coming from a 15 mustang gt I thought it would feel dramatically slower….. don’t miss the gt at all. For my rear end I did laser tailiights and side markers, carbon zr1 spoiler and a corsa exhaust. Huge diff for the rear end!

@@CodyDrivenI’m stuck in Los angles so I’ve decided to wait till we move to Arizona in a few months to start the performance side. But I’m going to go to cordes performance for a few things like headers, cam, upgraded radiator etc. not going to go full out with a full build just yet because I really just want to wake the car up some and enjoy it for awhile till I see what I truly want it to do. But so far in the couple months I’ve had it I’ve been doing the quality of life/appearance stuff. So far my mod list is kn cold air, corsa sport catback, chrome rear letters, carbon zr1 spoiler, laser tails, side markers and third brake light. All speakers have been replaced with alpine, Kenwood wireless apple CarPlay head unit, a completely hidden 10 in sub in the trunk floor with 2 amps. Mgw flat stick short shifter with custom titanium shift knob, suede shift boot, carbon and suede steering wheel. It’s looking sharp! Still have to install the round sleepy eyes, carbon front lip, carbon front license plate duct, and laser corner lights i have sitting around. That’ll finish up the front.

Black 03 Z06 here. Love it! 55 more hp and lower gears in the transmission, it’s ferocious! 82,000 miles, replaced the starter, water pump and both front wheel bearings.

I actually just bought my 2001Z 51 C5 convertible a month ago as well and picked it up with 79,000 miles on it for $16,000. I’m also blown away by the value of these and how much fun they are and how little you have to worry about them when you drive them like they were meant to be driven every single time because they can handle it.

Great car, I love mine which is also a Manual. It's weird, that you prefer the side view whereas I don't, I love the rear end and front - I guess that's why these cars are so popular as they mean different things to different people! 👏🇬🇧

I've had my 2001 C5 for almost 3 years (after having a C3 then C4). Have enjoyed them all but really love the C5. I even have the same Cray wheels as your car. Really suit the C5 IMHO.

I put a gloss black zr1 style spoiler on my 97 and it helps the rear look a ton. It’s subtle, but sexy.

Good vid. I have a 2002 base m6 and z51. In 2 weeks it's going in to get a BTR 3 cam, 243 heads and accompanying parts, headers, high flow cats and xpipe. Already have corsa extreme axle back.

I miss my 2004 Z16 CE. Glad you enjoying your C5. Get some halo taillights and a subtle edge spoiler for the rear. The interior is awful, yet functional (asides from the cupholder). Get some select ride shocks while you still can.

2-way adjustable coilovers are a must. The stock composite springs suck.

350hp/lb.ft may not seem like alot but remember how light the C5 is. Power to weight ratio!! If you add some bolts ons + tune you'll be over 450hp/lb.ft

Delrin control arm bushings, you're going to need Valve springs pac 1218 springs at least and you're going to need a tune otherwise the cam won't matter.

It’s called a transaxle. It’s for 50/50 weight ratio

Lol, wait until you learn about the C5 in the drift scene. Throw an angle kit on that thing and your going go have a blast. A lot of my friends in the JDM scene have been selling their Nissans and Hondas for a C5 just to drift.

I had a c5 and it was just super unreliable. The seat never went forward. The oil sensor failed twice. The ac went out twice. The radiator leaked coolant. The coolant reservoir leaked. Generally I tell people to just get the c6 over the c5. It’s like gm took the c5 and completely fixed it
