5 Year Modification Cost Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4m8Yqx8icaKjtU. Happy New Year!! Thanks everybody for watching. Another year down, so now I've owned this beauty for 5 Years. I couldn't be happier and I don't think there's another car that I could enjoy as much as this for 5 years and essentially only lose $500 in depreciation. Let me know how your owner experience has been so far.

Great summery, Dave! I have documented all my upgrades and repairs and found that the C5 is a great car to own and enjoy! Don’t hesitate If you find a nice clean one even with high miles.

No regrets, except I should have done it sooner lol. You're right, if you find a great car, it'll treat you well. The wife was not happy when I was writing everything down getting prepared for this video and the next one. BUT the video that's coming out after that calmed her down a bit lol.

solid video! I am currently in the market for a c5... all of these details really help putting everything in perspective. I just wish I was more mechanically inclined. But I think ill learn along the way like you. Cheers

Head over to corvetteforum.com and you'll find any information that you'll need for any issue. It's a great resource to help you through trouble. I was not mechanically inclined before owning the car, but I became somewhat knowledgeable over the years because mechanics over charge for a Corvette. You'll be OK and good luck in your search.

Right?? GoPro video looks great with the clear top. Now I gotta try some POV style videos. They are always too dark when I tried previously, so now they should be good. I gotta figure out audio bc the drone can be heard pretty bad in the video lol.

You may not like going from a C6 to a C5. Cars aren't that much different, but the C6 is more refined and better interior.

Great video. I'll be looking at my costs around March, but just did a quick peak. I put about double your miles (40k/3yrs) and the numbers all work out to about $0.45/mile, same as yours. Not bad considering I pay Philly insurance. 😐

Interesting. For me - I don't want to look at how much I've spent over the 20 months I've had my 84. But - I didn't buy it to worry about resale, etc. One other tip - I moved my car's insurance from NJ Manufacturer's to an NCM insurance policy - SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.
@YellowVette044 жыл бұрын
I've heard about NCM being a great deal. I gotta call them up and get a quote. Thanks for the tip. Resale doesn't matter to me either, especially after the mods I've done since that's a lot of money I won't get back lol.
@petercarey68834 жыл бұрын
@Mike's 84 Corvette. That's probably the best move you could have made in switching to the NCM insurance. So many of my club members have done that through the years that I can no longer keep track and not one them said their previous Insurance Company would match the Museum's pricing. Keep in mind, you can't bundle with them any of your other cars. Save the Wave👋

Low beams on a c5 are they 9005 bulb?
@YellowVette044 жыл бұрын
Low Beam is 9006, high beam is 9005. Many shave down the plastic tab on a 9005 bulb to fit in a 9006 bulb since a 9005 is brighter, but I switched to LED.

@@YellowVette04 okay I added mine up too. I bought mine 07/2018 and added 12,000 miles. I am currently at $8734. Major expense attributed to needing new tires all 4 about $1200 and new clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder, and rebuilt torque tube being about $2500. The only thing I have going for me is that my KBB value is $1400 more than my purchase price. This does not include modifications.

Was it worth the cost of replacing the cam. I see some post that they say it's hard to keep the car running at warm up
@YellowVette044 жыл бұрын
The cam has been great. Even on 20° mornings there's no issue with warm up. That sounds like a tuning issue rather than a cam issue. I went with a mild-medium cam, BTR Stage 2, so bigger cams might be a different story.

You gotta consider. If a. Belts bad pullies bad refurbished alternators. Break pads disk replacement head lights. Luckily the. Headlights work long term. Radio. Button lights luckily u can buy the little bulbs at auto zone or which ever store. U go. Too. Alignments. Which u can. Get free. Pep boys. Tires I don't even burn out. But better over time back tires. Wear faster then front I guess all the taking off fast. From the stop lights. Lol man and keeping it clean. Daily pricey. Lol things but at least you know how to do alotta stuff by yourself. So that takes out the maintenance part. I've had to do it all and that's only 10 months worth of ownership 😇😅 i tell people all the time man like you can't treat vettes like all these other daily drivers you see it's a performance vehicle so everythings gotta be. Bar grip perfect almost. The good thing is once you change out important parts. There's waranty through auto zone. Pep boyz like my break pads and disk are still warranty so free of charge. Lol my alignments are free cuz i paid for the year. Check ups babied the car. Basically lol
@YellowVette044 жыл бұрын
You said it right. The car is 16+ years old, so that comes with maintenance. It's going to be hard to find one that doesn't require something. I guess I lucked out because it honestly hasn't needed anything except routine maintenance. But eventually I'll have to do more and more things. I'm kinda doing the maintenence on my own terms, instead of when it needs to be done. We'll see how long that lasts tho lol. Thanks for watching and the comments.
