Also, the rambling is good. It leads to other trains of thought that might lead to something helpful with another part of installation or whatever and then eventually help what you're currently doing. I really appreciate the long stretches of video, being thorough. I hate a video with a bunch of cuts to make it shorter. I'd rather watch than 98% of the other "tutorials." Thanks man!

Excellent video. I'm doing the same thing on my `08. The kenwood is already installed and the only thing I lack is mounting the amp and running the power wires. I'm afraid to screw into the back of the seat so I'll do something else to mount the amp to the carpet. I also couldn't tell if you connected a ground local at the amp or ran it from under the hood. I'm sure I'll find a local ground back there. Thanks again.

I have the Bose system in my 2005. The Upper door speakers and the lower door speakers, are they coming out of the amp at the same level? The lower door speakers are filtered for Low pass from the amp, what about the upper speaker is that full range or high pass?
@maintainersgarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the questions. Are they coming out at the same level? I am not sure, but I am guessing that the lower door speaker will be getting more power than the upper speaker. The uppers i think are high pass.

I have heard that if you change out the stock head unit it sounds way better and louder without speaker/amp upgrades. I have the Bose system in my 05 since it’s a 3LT. May start w the head unit and then possibly an amp with new speakers.

@@maintainersgarage Thanks for the answer. Follow up question: How "tall" is the amp? Would it have fit underneath the seat? My amp is 5 inches tall; hoping it'll fit under it if behind it isn't a good choice.
@maintainersgarage2 жыл бұрын
@@capone079 under the passenger seat is a small area like 5x7 L/W where there is enough clearance for an amp. The back of the passenger seat at the lowest setting is about 1/2 inch off the carpet. And at the most FWD position the back of the seat eats up that space. So it is more of a footprint issue than height. There are amps that will fit just very small ones

Can you attach the new speakers to the old factory wiring or do you have to use new wire?

If you are using the factory head unit/amplifier you can use the factory wiring. Otherwise you need to run new speaker wire

I connected my amp but my sound went off now , i don’t know if my bose factory amp got damage , can you please help me , my new amp works with my subwoofers but there is no sound besides the subs
@maintainersgarage3 жыл бұрын
JR, I am gonna try and help. So you have an aftermarket amp and it is only powering the subs, and those both work. And you are still using the bose amp to power the other speakers that no sound comes from. So I am guessing you still have factory head unit. 1st thing to check is fuses for bose amp. Since you have sound coming from the subs I am gona say that your head unit is working. So that leads to check all the connections behind the headunit. Hope that helps and hope you find it to be an easy fix

Maintainers Garage cool thanks. I am wanting to change the speakers in my door and the rear mid section. You have helped a lot. I am wanting an amp to replace the one in the factory location of the passenger floor board area. Do you recommend an amp? I would need a 4 channel amp. Not sure if I want to add a sub or not. If so I know I would need a 5 channel amp.
@maintainersgarage4 жыл бұрын
@@Backtothez I knew I wanted a sub. I needed a sub for me to be happy, you may not. 100% personal choice. On the amp, I recommend an amp. Good sound comes from decent power. But there are plenty 4ch out there that will give you great sound in a compact size and not a lot of $$$. Glad I could help!
