After 2 months of continuous use and 2 hours a day. I can say this turntable is a quality unit that is playing and sounding fantastic. With the Edifier 1280t speakers the sound is full and very rich. So glad to be back to vinyl the analog sound is much more pleasing and warm.

The plastic key, at 10:03, is used to move the belt from 33 to 45 (and vice-versa,) so your fingers don't actually touch the belt. I owned a Project One turntable, some years ago, and this same tool was included

11:15 - When you change the belt between 33 and 45 position, rather than aligning the belt on the subplatter by hand, just give the subplatter a quick hand rotation. Alignment done!

i feel obligated to highlight some areas that concern me. this will be a much better set of videos once you get some real experience in the hobby of hifi. some of the info is of course needed by someone entering the hobby. the tonearm shape is not whether or not it is cool looking. there are other design considerations. there are different ways to get to the proper phono cartridge alignment, the angle being the main consideration. when you say that the tracking force should be set as light as you can without skipping, you somewhere near the right idea. the cartridge maker always includes a tracking force RANGE. best bet is to set it at the top of the range recommended by the maker. if it says 1.2gr to 2.0gr then 2 is the safest bet. the reason is that you NEVER want the cartridge stylus to lose physical contact with the groove. highly modulated grooves like a crescendo or high energy cymbal strikes move the stylus back and forth rapidly. if the tracking force isn't adequate, the stylus loses contact with the vinyl and strikes each wall of the groove with accelerated, thus greater force than intended and WILL damage the vinyl which is delicate but remarkably capable. this also brings up the two point alignment gauge provided. the stylus will be more aligned across more of the record if the two alignment points are adjusted for. admittedly, it's not plug and play all the time. i will suppose many people will do so at first but hopefully will adjust to the idea that this is a HOBBY and some skill needs to be acquired and practiced. much more enjoyment will be had over time if one learns as he goes. i will say that the process would be easier if the tonearm has a detachable headshell which makes cartridge changes, inspection and alignment easier overall. the one piece tonearm may contribute to a lower price overall, it is well worth the possible additional cost if the detachable headshell arm is gotten in the first place. the tool that seems to not have a function has an important one of not having the owner of the turntable touch the belt with his fingers that have the oil on them that causes fingerprints. these finger oils can cause slippage and deterioration of the belt. save the tool, maybe on the plinth or perhaps in a zipper lock bag with the instruction sheet and any other items pertinent to the unit such as the cardboard two point protractor. and do not make light of the protractor, it's important. also, the slip mat should be replaced with a rubber or cork type which will provide a more stable support of the vinyl over its entire surface. also, the felt may case a snagging of the stylus AND it holds dust altogether to well. i am sorry if i have come off on the critical side of this coin, the review concept is good and is oriented toward beginners. but this is a serious enough 'table to warrant serious attention. i hope you can realize that i am trying to contribute to your success and success of the end user. ...hifitommy

Best thing for setting the tracking force is using a test record that has a tracking test on it. Turn up the weight so it can track about 60um to 70um max. That way, you don't need to set it any higher than useful, reducing wear on the record (the higher the tracking force, the higher the wear).

I'm no audio snob and I have to admit this deck does look good. The cartridge/stylus looks like the AT-3600L, which is a great starter unit. For some records I even prefer the sound of this to much more expensive cartridges. The tonearm on this looks fantastic...

I would be annoyed by having to remove the platter and move the belt to change speeds, but for someone who doesn't switch back and forth between LPs and 45s often, it's a very good turntable at a great price. FYI: the stylus it comes with is recommended to track at between 2.5 and 3.5 grams.

The motor cover on the bottom can be removed to expose the speed adjustment screws. A strobe ring and a cheap strobe can get the speed dead nuts. The azimuth is achieved by keep the table perfectly level and using a quality tracking cartridge like the NAGAOKA MM (MP) Cartridge MP-110.

My main stereo system consists of Dynaudio Contour 1.3 SE speakers, Bryston separates, an Arcam CD FMJ CD player and a VPI Scout TT. My second home has a minimalist setup, a pair of Klipsch “The Sixes” powered monitors, a Sony Blu Ray player and...a Crosley C6 TT. It is nowhere near the main system for sound and resolution but considering the price difference it is absolutely incredible! The Crosley C6 is a great value, well built, reliable, and sounds great! A+++ Crosley for you and Pro Ject making a great entry level TT! Music is fun sounding on this inexpensive rig!

I recently got one of these but it’s different in that it has switch for 33/45 rpm instead of moving the belt. All the reviews on this little guy say set vtf to 3.5. Some research on the stylus (ATN3600) say 2.5 to 3.5. Does this red one have bluetooth capability? Mine does and the owners manual has C6B on the front. B for Bluetooth maybe?Anyway I’d just like to see the TT I got somewhere. Nice video though.

I don't really get why the belt is driving a subplatter. The belt could've been attached to the outside of the main platter, if they made the pulley next to it. No subplatter needed that way.
@Recordology

It is interesting - perhaps to match the gear ratio of the motors they sourced? Or perhaps to get the belt / motor assembly out of view for the aesthetic?
@QoraxAudio
@QoraxAudio 4 жыл бұрын
@@Recordology Well... gear ratio is normally done by making the motorpulley diameter larger or smaller. When switching speed by moving the belt, you actually switch over to a larger or smaller pulley for example. It's perfectly fine if it has a little wobble , most record player's have some wobble there's not much you can do about it it's not going to harm neither the needle or the record.
