I had the low beam headlight issue. It was a recall so the dealer took care of it. Now I have the bouncing speedo. Need to change the vehicle speed sensor

Thanks for the very informative video! Too bad GM couldn't drop all the useless bells and whistles that go bad, and build them like Toyota. I've owned 4 corvettes and 4 Toyotas. Love them both for different reasons :) There is a a lot to like about my Z06, but unfortunately a lot to hate! I've also heard that some cars' roller rockers tend to spit out needle bearings :)

My wife just bought an 08 base model with the 4lt package which has the memory seats. I remember afew times the seats would move after opening the door, but once we started messing with the memory settings its stopped doing that. I dont remember specifically why but the seat hasn't moved upon opening the door since bringing it home One issue that we had that I found comes up on c6s is the accelerater postion sencer goes out which requires a new pedal assembly

You can reprogram your easy exit and it not move by switch on the door for your memory

It happens with all C6 Corvettes the automatic shifter assembly goes out the problem there is a solenoid that breaks and no that part is not cheap you need to buy the whole assembly itself and it's like $900 cuz it happened to mines

Lol my ABS light comes on every so often after or during a track day. The starter is having problems with heat soaking a lot though so I usually have to rewrap my headers and exhaust every so often

SEVERAL IMPORTANT NOTES: When pulled over you can open the door but you have to press the unlock button. Also I want to make it clear a few things that I did not say in this video: 1. Not all of the issues I state in this video have happened to my car in particular 2. I love this car and have nothing against it ( I mean to make a video on how awesome it is and what I love) 3. If you don't believe me on these issues please research for yourself (as I have), don't take everything I say (or anyone on youtube) as gospel 4. Some of these issues may be encouraged by hefty aftermarket performance upgrades or lack of maintenance, or higher mileage cars 5. I am confident anyone with a higher mileage C5 and C6 that has owned the car for most of the miles and works on it themselves will agree that a lot of these issues are common. NOW, here are the issues I have experienced with my particular car in 6 months of owning it and only putting about 10k miles on the car: alternator failure, electrical problems (car drains battery, bad grounds, car does not turn off when you press the engine stop & instrument cluster turns off but engine keeps running [fixed, it was due to loose connections in the fuse box wires under the panel]), rear diff heat exchanger line leaks, very slow oil leak, very slow trans fluid leak out of drive shaft seal, shifter knob falling apart, visor mirror cover plastic tabs breaking, fog light plastic holder tabs breaking, fuel pump failure, both sides of fuel sending units level sensors giving out (very common), plastics and seals cracking and breaking and falling apart, airbag light coming on due to loose wire, radiator fan plug melts (very common on Z06 and ZR1 or in hot environments), driver side seat heater does not work, key fob flakey, AC line leaks and AC going out, chrome on rims cracking and falling off, stereo popping noise, very hot center section, AC pulley belt falling off 2x (bad tensioner?), radiator fan plug melting and car overheating (first the ground then the positive), car going into limp mode again (has happened almost 8x times now and is always because of a loose electrical connection), seats being loose and popping back and forth, rattle noise in clutch (probably due to aftermarket clutch), clutch pedal not returning even after replacing spring and fluid.

The longest warranty you can get at any dealership is 100k miles and that for new cars so 200k is kinda crazy bro

As for opening the door while the car is running, you CAN get out without using the emergency mechanical release. You simply need to push the unlock button before you hit the open button, then the door will open normally. Read your manual.

Hey James, I have not read the whole manual, I have read about 70% of it though, I read most of it before I got the car actually cuz I'm a nerd and was excited to get a C6. I read some more of it again when I was trying to program another key to the car (which I never got to work and had to take it to the dealer). I thought I had tried pushing the unlock button to try and get out when the engine is running but I couldn't remember so I went and tried it just now and. ya it still won't open, neither will the passenger side, even with the parking brake on! Maybe something on mine is broken? Wouldn't be surprised lol

Touching up on reading the manual. The easy access mode can be turned off via the Options button on the right of the speedo.

When does the fuel pump fail?

I have replaced the alternator, had the fuel pump relay fail at the fuse box connector (bent back prongs to fix) but out of the two I’ve owned that’s about it. No dropped valves even at the track. Did have one that had a recent fuel pump replacement before I bought it. Oh, and yeah, the door switches fail. Also the keyless sensor doesn’t work well anymore if at all. Overall it’s a pretty trashy feeling car but if it wasn’t it wouldn’t have been as cheap as it was. Still would be hard pressed to find a more capable car for cheaper than the C6Z06. Not to mention what happens when you start throwing parts at it. Edit: forgot to mention my starter got cooked by my stock exhaust...

I bought mine new drives like a new cadillac...never had none of these issues take care of your shit....this guy is too young to have had all this shit happen to him period none of this had personally happened to him ...and if it has the car it beat up...geez THE C6 ZO6 IS A RACE CAR SET RECORDS WON THE LEMANS 3 YEARS IN A ROW...THE POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO IS TOP NOTCH...WITH A 50/50 WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION.... I CAN GO ON AND ON THIS KID IS REACHING....

I drive like a third strike felon so I’m not surprised I cook pats. I killed my alternator in the burnout box at the strip as the 2006 Z06 used a carryover alternator that wasn’t designed for 7k rpm. Easy as anything to replace with a newer part.

​@@jimmyingram9683 BSME here not that it matters:) The C6 is my dream car and I love it and have spent years saving up to get one. Not that it matters but I did my best to mention very common issues that I have seen personally or heard about with these cars. None of these I pulled out of my a**, look them up if you don't believe me. But a big thing that matters that I failed to mention: what mileage does the given car have and is it stock? I 100% agree that if a car is heavily modified and not done right and well maintained you will have way more issues over stock.. But a lot of these older vets have some mods to them or will be modded. I am a kid by all means and have a lot to learn.. Drive your Z06 200k and if you only have 30% of these issues it will be a miracle and preach to us. I did not cover the many amazing things this car offers but it wasn't the point of the video. I cover things that are also amplified by hard driving, higher miles, and poor maintenance. I personally have had the following issues with this car within a few months of owning it: clutch pedal does not return, pilot bearing squealing, rear diff heat exchanger tubing leak, shift knob falling apart, AC freon leaking, oil leak, trans leak, alternator failing, BIG: intake valve spring breaking, numerous charging and electrical issues. Stereo issues, 7-8 plastic parts and pieces breaking, driver side heated seats don't work, key fob is sometimes iffy even with a new battery, airbag light, fuel pump failure, both fuel level sensors going out (very common!), AC not working, car having trouble turning off and on, more electrical issues, body panels mis aligned, getting pulled over too much, cracking fogging head lights, I probably missed a few. I love this car and I got it in good condition, but I have only driven it for 6k miles at 90k and the above are the issues I have encountered. Yes mine is very modified, but that only somewhat explains 1/3 of these issues. And if you don't believe me on any of these, go look for yourself! Don't believe me!
