June 1985 - got a C64 and a mess of games from a friend. Also just finished junior year in high school, got my first driver's license, and my first job (fast food, nights). Many Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, and WASP songs comprised the soundtrack for that year. Playing these video games during the days of that summer was the last tip of the hat to innocent childhood pleasures such as playing this incredibly fun game HERO.

This is one of those classic C64 games that is just awesome in its simplicity. You can keep playing it and never get bored, it requires precision skills in the later levels. I love it, thanks for the upload :-)

Fantastic memories of playing this game back in 1986 on dad's Commodore 64. Thanks for the nostalgic sounds and visuals of the game.

I was obsessed by this game as an 8 year old. Now playing it on the Miyoo Mini Plus again and it's still as great as it was back then. Amazing level design and it's always fair. Controls are spot-on. Unfortunately my skills have deteriorated over the past 35-40 years.

I remember playing this as a kid - the game had precise but easy controls. The play in the video looks impressive, but it's really not, you'd just learn the timing over multiple playthroughs and it would come naturally - at least until you got to the lava levels, which would ramp it up a notch. Such a great game

@@Murgoh it took me forever to learn to shoot through walls.
@JustWasted3HoursHere4 жыл бұрын
@@Murgoh I guess that makes sense (and is more fair) since you could run out of bombs if you take too many wrong turns during a mission. I wish more games followed this guideline: Make it hard, but keep it fair.

Du hast den Pokebefehl benutzt.Ist zwar 30 Jahre her aber ich kann mich noch gut daran erinnern.Berühren der roten Wände,oder auch zu dicht an der Explosion,und du warst ein Leben los.

Note: I remember you can use the laser to destroy the gray rock walls but it takes a few seconds. I don't remember if it works with the poisonous red walls that kill you if you touch them.

@adroharv92136 жыл бұрын
I think the added texture in this version makes for probably the least asthetically appealing version. The 2600 version is very clean for example and looks stylish. The C64 version feels much more like you're moving around the enviroment you're supposed to be in of course so there is that. It was often the case I think with these ports that they used the extra capabilities to somehow enhance the visuals so it's understandable. Another example of this would be Demon Attack. Played Hero a lot and have progressed pretty far but I never understood why this game was praised quite as highly as it is. Definitely polished though in the typically Activision way
@werpu125 жыл бұрын
I think graphically the best versions are the Atari 8 bit homecomputer/5200 version and the Colecovision version. The 8 bit homecomputer version is a slightly graphically improved 2600 version which keeps the clean artwork and the 5200 version basically is an Atari homecomputer version with less input lag and a second button for the bomb. The coleco version basically is the c64 version but with a sane non distracting color scheme.

You are my HERO ;) LOL Schade dass man nicht wenigstens mit einem Endscreen belohnt wird. Ich hasse diese Spiele, die man schlägt und dann geht es trotzdem endlos weiter.

After level 20 it just randomly picks form earlier levels and lasts forever.

For some strange reason there is a red wall that cannot be removed with laser or dynamite a 14:28 (end of lvl. 20). Right where you enter the screen on the left. It will kill you though so I have never gone beyond that. I'm playing the Remember version with +6 trainers (not using the trainers of course). HELP!

Recycled character walk. Good game and activision had alot of games for Commodore 64. Parker Brothers was a more smarter company with less titles. Atarisoft was even better than Activision.
