"No idea why the sound quality fluxuates so much throughout the audio file" If you're referring to the strange "phaser-like" effect, it's just the SID's notch/band reject analog filter being put in good use by the musician who did the song :-). It's done on purpose, it isn't an audio quality issue and actually if you see the song thru a spectrogram you can see that the filter's cutoff frequency is being modulated up and down by a very slow triangle LFO. And you can see clearly the filter's action on the waves here in the video too, as their edges are clearly being distorted when you hear the effect. Gread tune!

wait, the sid has a notch filter?
@mima852 жыл бұрын
@@ConnorR.mp3 Yes, the SID's analog filter is multimode, it has low pass, high pass and band pass. It's a feature that very few of the big professional analog synthesizers had the year the SID was released.

It's always so fascinating to watch these waveforms. The waveforms show each voice doing such unexpected things, it makes me wonder how the musician/programmer did it.

Totally thought so too, would’ve been crazy if this was some retro inspo for The Moroder track haha
