C6 Zr1 owner here. The guy with the C6 obviously needs more seat time. You never do a 50mph pull in 3rd gear lol. Think he said he came from a C6 ZO6. C6 Zr1 and ZO6's are geared different. In a ZR1 50 and 60 pulls are always in 2nd. If he would've been in 2nd he would've walked away pretty easily. ZR1'S are geared for high speed racing. C6 ZR1'S are limited to 205 top speed while the C7 Z06's run out of steam around 195. But with more seat time he'll learn, both nice cars but I'm bias towards the C6 Zr1, it's just a faster better looking Vette to me.

If you take the time to research completely objective tests conducted by Car and Driver, Motor Trend, etc., you will find the 0-60, 0-100, and quarter miles times between the C6 ZR1 and C7 Z06 are virtually identical, with the C6 pulling about 1-2 mph more thru the traps due to less down force. The yellow C7Z06 in the video is a Z06 with Z07 package, which has even more down force, but still pulls nearly identical times to 125 mph. The C6 is about 150 lbs to 200 lbs lighter, but the C7 has more area under the power curve. Handling and braking go to the Z06 Z07 hands down, as I have yet to see any-ANY-other supercar that can match or better it in acceleration AND also beat it in the cornering and stopping departments. Truly a world class supercar. Full disclosure: I own 2 Z06’s, one non-Z07 which has been modded to about 725 hp, and the other a stock Z06/Z07.

Makes no sense to me either. 50 roll in my c6 Z is exactly the sweet spot. A 60 roll in 2nd can be a little much, I'll prob be in 3rd. My car makes 527whp so 60 roll in 2nd is a dousy.

You guys are both incredibly blessed to own these amazing sports cars. I personally would go with the Z06. As much as I would love to own a ZR1 they just seem more like a collectors item being so rare and I wouldn't want to drive it as much or modify it. That's just me. Plus he mentioned how expensive it will be to maintain and modify, it would also scare me.

I have a 2013 zr1 60th anniversary 1 of 25 zr1s made for the Canadian market. I have the performance package with the closer ratio trans. If that c7 had the standard brakes on it the zr1 would have taken it. There is a lot of mass in the rotors to accelerate. Both cars are bad ass in their own right. My choice would be a zr1 hands down. I did headers, xpipe, pulley and a tune. It’s pushing 614hp and 622rwtq i don’t think I will mod it further it’s an absolute hand full at WOT! More then enough to get the adrenaline pumping! Great video! Good job guys!!

Centennial Edition is to commemorate Chevrolets 100 years, not the Corvettes. As the 2013 was the Corvettes 60th anniversary car

The C7Z has the Stage 3 “aero” bits which provide a lot of downforce. This is great for the track but they limit top end due to more drag. Most of the race results are what I expected, the C7Z gets the jump at lower speeds, but the C6ZR will reel him in as speeds increase due to less drag. The two cars are close in power, so much of the difference is the aero bits at higher speeds. Would like to see the results of a C7Z with Stage 1 aero, which provides less drag at higher speeds compared to the Stage 3 aero, against the C6ZR. Both are great cars that anyone would be proud to have in their garage.

Same here if you let Chevy tell it. they said the C7Z06 was the fastest car even faster than the C6ZR1 at the time around the track. I still think stock for stock it depends on who build the engine and how it came off the line.

I've got an 07 Z06 and I'd like to modify it with some turbos, supercharger, cam and whatever else that can be done. What speed shop (I assume you are in Dallas because I used to live there and looks like it) do you guys take your vettes to? I am now in west Texas but would bring it up there.

My 2012 GS A6 is modified with full 1 3/4 headers, high flow cats, and I kept the NPP exhaust. Engine mods are BTR blower cam, ATI harmonic balancer, and A & A supercharger at only 6 pounds with a 4" pulley.. very compromised, but with only the ability to get 91 octane fuel, she dyno'd at 710.. and at a 50 roll, it will spin the rear 345's all the way to 130 or more -- the rear trying to follow the front end. It's a fun ride. I've "hit" it at 100 and she still spins.. I have no idea what 800 would do, but I'm limited because of the A6 again.. nice rides guys.. have fun! (Dyno'd at Doug Rippie Motorsports, Waverly, MN).

I have a 2014 Z51 7 spd, kooks headers and catless X pipe, B & B fusion axelback. ECS supercharger . I live in MN also, had CJ Auto in St Paul do the headers and tune. Awesome guys!

Saving for a C7 Z07 bc for me just racing isn’t everything, so then bells & whistles on the C7 take it for him, the interior, feels like a fighter jet then when riding the woman around, just looks better on the inside. Also love the body angles. I love them both, if I had to get another Corvette outside the C7 Z06 I’d get the C6 ZR1

The biggest slow down for the C7Zs are those stage 3 spoilers and front flaps. It's not just the downforce but the drag. Going from stage 3 to stage 1 makes a considerable difference. Combine it with the ratios and some extra weight.

C7 z06 is much better looking, but in performance, the C6 ls9 is no slouch. From a dig the Z06 always get ahead start, but after the third gear, C6 Zr1 is going to gain and pass the Z06, especially in a mile race, but the Z06 is better on track than the C6 zr1. Both are great

Great video, the only complaint i have is the motion blur on the camera. Makes the video a little blurry and difficult to watch when you pan the camera. Otherwise keep showing us dope cars man.

C6 looks amazing with c8 style headlights and infrai taillights and paint paint leds modernize it perfect. Nice thing Caravaggio corvettes has a nice seat and interior upgrade for it too to get to modern it more. Tried a c7z06. Like the interior roof take off and it’s a bit stiffer.

I had a 2009 ZR1 and I have a 2016 Z06. They are very evenly matched, but if both cars are 100% stock, the ZR1 will start pulling on the Z06 on the top end.

Own a C6Z… think the c6 Z chassis is arguably the best Corvette chassis todate. My Z06 is a mild build making almost 550 wheel HP in a car under 3200 lbs. That was pretty close to a draw between the C6 & C7

I would go with C6 ZR1, but it’s really just what is most appealing to you. I think the swooping lines of the C6 over the more angular and cutting lines of the C7. They both look incredible, but the C6, especially directly from the front and directly from behind, so damn amazing looking!

zr1 stock manifolds are good to 800 hp before becoming restrictive. waste of money to do headers for 700 hp. also the 2650 is more built for max power builds 2300 with proper porting , fueling will get you 800 rwhp without the expense of the 2650

It was just a friendly race. They both knew it was going to be pretty much even and it was, the C7Z edging him out by a bit. Headers do make a difference though, especially when tuned. Without the tune he picks up a bit still, but with a tune a big gain.

Yep, there are some CorvetteForum that say you could win that with just a C6 Z, No R-1 needed. He needed to be in 2nd gear, not 3rd, for that 50mph roll. Thanks. Also, I will NEVER understand a Cat Back exhaust mod on any Corvette later than a C5 base. The stock is Titanium, light as heck, best exhaust ever put on a stock car. Buying yet another exhaust is such a waste of money.

Stock for stock the c7 zr1 is faster. It’s lighter by 200 pounds and it has less drag creating aero and the bigger 2.3 blower pulls longer to the redline and doesn’t heat soak and full on its face up top like the little 1.7 blower on the c7. C7 needs Maggie 2650., a&a Ysi , procharger f1 94a etc and then it’s hard to beat by any heavy modded car in its hp/weight ratio. Plus he has on stage 3 aero which greatly slows the cat down in a roll race and it’s only good for high speed tracks and cornering.

Both are cloth for quarter mile times but the c6 z will eventually start pulling away as it has a mother top speed of 208 mph. C7z06 Is 185 mph. 23 mph is a lot more.
