So I'm curious did grinding the studs down cause any balancing issues. At least if you grind down the burrs on the wheels you can have the wheel balanced, but no way to balance the hub. Just curious. I love the look of the wheels moved out. I'm assuming those are the 20 mm spacers. Is that the biggest spacer you can use on the C8 without rubbing? Did you lower your C8? I have the Z51 without the front lift so I can adjust the struts down another 7/10" which I want to do. If you did lower yours, have you had any rubbing issues with the combination of the spacers and lowering? Thanks Scott
@RWDC8Z Жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, this was 2-3 years ago but I believe at this point i was on lowering collars and spacers. Slight rubbage on the fronts when wheel was cranked all the way. Since you dont have the lift you can get the heights perfect for your situation. No issues with balancing.

While I do understand and even like the look resulting from the spacers moving the wheel/tire out to better line up with the fender edges...I can’t help but wonder if there is any noticeable change in drive/steering/braking quality? I’ve changed out to aftermarket wheels before that had a way different offset and it ruined the ride quality. Also, the wider stance will mean more debris thrown up onto the fenders, doors etc. however probly easily and readily fixed with rock guards/mud flaps? Then, last, will adding the spacers mean you need to have 4-wheel alignment done over? The end result would change caster/camber, right? Not criticizing...just questions and curious!
@RWDC8Z3 жыл бұрын
When you got your aftermarket wheels did you go bigger with a smaller side wall tire? Usually when people upgrade they go an inch bigger on the Rim and smaller on tire and you’ll notice a huge difference in ride quality. Yeah someone makes some wider mud flaps that could help with the debris. Not sure on the alignment but i plan to get an alignment when the new rear tires come in.

Thank you! Yeah it was my first car ever. Probably shouldn’t have picked the c8 as my first wrap project cause of all the lines and angles but that’s the best way to learn right? Super happy with the result, but new wrap coming soon!

Why not grind down the inside of the rim instead?
@RWDC8Z3 жыл бұрын
Great question, if you were to ever take the wheels off to say replace a tire or to slap on some drag radials and went back to put the wheel back on. Unless you had it marked which stud goes to which hole, you’ll have to grind down that specific hole in the rim again. If you grind down the studs, you’ll never have to worry about it.
@gregoryfanning67393 жыл бұрын
@@RWDC8Z I get that, but I guess I feel like if your gonna do it, do it right, the car isn't a honda civic. Seems bootleg to take the wheel off and see ground down studs. Seems not much more time to mark the spaces or just grind all the spaces on all the wheels, so they are uniform. But hey that's just me, you have the car I don't 😉
@RWDC8Z3 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day, you’ve accomplished the same thing. You’re never going to see the back of that wheel and you’re never going to see those studs. 99% of owners will buy the spacers, have someone else install them and never have to deal with it again.

Very helpful video! I took mine to a shop to install along with some other mods and they didn't fit. Same exact situation where the tips were hitting the wheel. So the dremel was a helpful tool to get them to fit properly!

Did you have any rubbing issues with the splash guards? I have a z51 with the same wheels & spacers & it rubs slightly when the car is at normal height but rubs even more when I have front lift on & turn the steering wheel. I'm looking for thinner splash guards as a solution.
