There will be a corvette version for all drivers interested in two seat fun, road trips, perhaps track fun, etc,etc.............but less storage area than the hatch compartment of C5,C6,C7. Worthy trade off to strive for better performance as the Mission Tadge and Company explained. Looks like a home run here, bet they sell like hot cakes. Corvette Museum said they were adding a second shift of 400 folks, that's a wow. NCM1730

The biggest plus for an avg Joe like me is simply that it is a Chevy with a proven power plant and dealers everywhere. The 720s behind you there is incredible, no doubt about it. But for most of us geographically it is suicide. Break down it that on a road trip and you are done. You can't even get local help. The engine bay locked out. Wait for help from McClaren which might be hundreds of miles away. Not to mention the costs if god forbid you have no warranty. No way. If you live in Newport Beach and stay within 100 miles of the dealer, you are golden. Corvette = freedom from stress and worry.

finally, a discussion with deeper info, instead of random rambling! if the c8 doesn't have all sport cars manufacturers worrying, it should. while i'd love a gt4, this is almost half the price! we're not all named Leno. so instead of a gt4, i could get a c8 and a big trailer full of awesome motorcycles. or a motorcycle and a type-r as a daily driver. seriously, porsche, ferrari, lotus, lambo must be concerned that GM's reported $750million of new tooling will make it impossible for small manufacturers to be cost competitive.. the c8 is very nice, nicer than many of us expected. BUT without a price hike? that is indeed the nice surprise. i heard that they are already planning to go from one shift production to two. they really figured this out nicely for a change. so while the bankruptcy changed the culture to less control by the accountants and more by the engineers, image if they had let GM die as it should've. someone would have bought the equipment and hired the best to likely make better cars. however, maintaining the huge size has allowed GM to create this awesome car at a bargain price. wonderful!

I've seen several other channels with Auto Techs that talk about the high cost of maintenance and especially repairs. Because of the way the engine is wedged in, it would have to be dropped along with the transmission for repairs that would be normal on the C-7. They all said prepare yourself for Porsche type repair bills. I notice none of the Corvette hype channels have touched on this.

Not even close. A base corvette doesn't compare to current generation supercars. The corvette is still a relatively cheap Chevy sports car that will be everywhere in about one year. Just because they changed the engine location doesn't turn Chevy's budget sports car into a supercar. This is coming from someone that has owned 2 generations of Z06 so I am a fan of the car.

Something not touched on is the increased wheel base is the same as lowering the center of gravity in effect. This should give handling advantages as well as being comfortable.

First review actually covering the dimensions,. I'm 6'1 300 lbs looking for a super car, unfortunately I tried them all with no luck being comfortable. I put a deposit on the Corvette because of the reviews saying is a lot more roomy than others. Hopefully you can break down the interior dimensions to see if someone like me can be comfortable in it. 👍

Less vehicle weight = more power, more fuel efficient and less wear and tear on things. This appears to be the best looking fastest looking Corvette so far sitting still ever made. Hopefully in the years to come all wheel drive, deeper chromed aluminum wheels on the rear and power 1200 through 3500 horsepower to compete with the big dog super cars and track cars. If GM can't make the power Nelson Racing Engines, Kenny Duttweiler, Pro-Line Engines and many more can and have already. For some reason auto manufacturers will not build a car under 3,000 pounds yet. it can be done there are many quarter mile Street and strip cars 2600 through 2800 pounds with driver race ready to go.

The first person to break down the dimensions against other models. 2.5" is a lot wider. Had to be to stuff that LT1 in there like a Xmas goose.. Heat is going to be something in urban traffic. I could see opening the trunk in Phoenix Summer Traffic oh year. Do that now with my mustang. Adaptive cruise keeps me from hitting.

I belive the lt2 engine has cylinder deactivation when cruising on the highway. This will make it very fuel efficient on the highway on top of being aerodynamic! I would think you'd only have to fill up once during your trip!

The c8 being a fuller sized mid engine sports car work all to its favor. First and foremost it has both a frunk and a Trunk. Not many mid's have both. not only that but it doesn't loose its trunk in its convertible iteration!, so, in the cast of the convertible c8 you have a frunk and a trunk! and its trunk size remains the same as the coup. EXCELLENT!. Now that said, all this additional space gets applied to those areas and not particularly the interior space. The corvette has always have a high degree of practicality despite the class of car it is. BUT they've done an excellent job once again, by not having huge door sills thus retaining much needed interior space, and should the pedals have enough distance, the car would be accessible to taller buyers, a segment in the supercar industry that been consistently unaddressed, the need for larger interiors for larger people, as most of these cars are typically made for very short men.

I dont think it will get shorter. If anything it may get wider if they decide to put a wide body kit on it. Might also be just a couple pounds lighter IF they put more carbon fiber on it. Overall I dont see much changing in that regard with the Z06 or ZR1 models

Not all other mid and rear engine supercars are lighter than the C8 Corvette. The lamborghini Huracan, for example, weighs roughly the same as the C8. As does the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Great car, love it. Supercar and practicality don't go together. If you put two golf bags in it, forget 0 to 60 under 3sec. I am sure 99.9% of C8 buyers already have an SUV for practicality. Practicality is a compromise that will hurt long run. I hope next gen will go on diet.

I think the corvette is still a sports car. In terms of performance it has a super car pedigree. But we all know that General Motors will make a ton of C8. It is more appropriate to call the C8 corvette a super-car hunter This is just my opinion in the matter

Why does calling it a super car make more sense now than before? The Vette has always had at or near similar performance as cars like an R8, the base lambos and Ferrari’s. Is it just because the engine is now in the middle? If it’s related to performance, like I said, it’s always been a very high performance car and i don’t think that most people consider a 500hp+ and much lighter and much more high performance engine, based on displacement Porsche GT3 or even GT3RS a “supercar”.

The hp numbers are in the video at 3:48. They are 495hp 470tq with the performance exhaust and 490hp and 465tq without it on 93 octane

When it comes to Muscle cars Corvette has always stood out to the point where they no longer wanted to be consider a muscle car and for years have been consider a sports car. With all other muscle cars stepping up there game with lack of handling distribution primarely a relation to there heavy weight. Corvette has shown why over the years they are not just a muscle car but a sports car and even shown to be on the edge of Supercar territory.. Corvette has done everything they could to win the muscle car war and it has long won it. With the C7 it has long won the sports car war. Corvette no longer wants to appeal as a Muscle/Sports ..it has to much technology and upgraded materials inside and out to be continued label in muscle car territory it wants to be now label Sports car/Super Car With 5 versions of the car 1)Base Stingray 2)Z51 Stingray 3)Grand Sport 4)ZO6 5)ZR1 What Corvette has found here is while all these cars are considered Corvette one is not the same and they are put into seperate categories With the Stingrays & Grand Sport being Sports Cars And the ZO6 & ZR1 being Super Cars However Chevy has also notice a "good problem" in that they can make a "Sports Car" for the same price American Muscle Cars cost and equal the hp or track times which offers them to take competition and new clients away from Muscle Cars Dodge & Ford who were willing to by high Performance Muscle Cars but now can get them in a Corvete Sports Car. Chevy has left the base Model Stingray a All Aspirated V8 495hp zero to 60 in under 3's...those figures are infusing to all muscle car lovers ! Also with the price being the same or less for a high performance muscle that doeant deliver the performance as.. But Corvette also has there eyes on the ball which is not only the Muscle Car market "Hence" get rid of the Camero and use the Stingray with an all Aspirated V8 to be the one to compete in that Muscle car market And use the ZO6 with Twin Turbos To win the Sports Car market and have the future ZR1 AWD electric with Electric Superchargermounted with turbos.which will be fuel efient and increase to and get them to the 950 -1000hp they could show off in a Super Car as being the future all cars are going Dual Clutch using Turbos for fuel efficiency and Electc Super Chargers for the same using both gives you both quick low end speed and also top end speed...And they will do this while not abandoning there Aspirated V8 muscle heads that you mention by offering a Aspirated V8. Stingray thats badazz at an affordable Muscle car price...They are making the new Corvette with right side drive that should tell you they are going global with this car. Also hear they are taking notes from Porche and Lambo creating a Corvette Crossover and SUV Truck for the future.

GM has broken the code, and therefore will change the world, because they are NOW able to mass produce a supercar. But, if you'd rather pay $195K plus for YOUR next supercar...by all means go ahead. One of my favorite sports cars. I love what theyre doing. But im a truck man at heart. Lifted supercharged tundra on 37s. I have more horsepower and torque than this car plus i could drive over it. Not to mention tow 10,000 pounds up 12,000 feet. And my 2 boats. Ur not really a baller unless you own a ferarri and a mansion or 2 and if i was said baller id probably just buy more trucks instead

@@automotiveantics i duno its just natural. I love the corvette always have always will. The fastest zero to 60 was a fully blown corvette 5.7. You cant take anything away from that car but i just dont care about cars. I personally have a 2.4 liter honda that gets 33 mpg and 192 hp with a hitch that can tow a jetski. Ive never driven a vette but ive driven a few pretty fast cars. I can imagine it must be a wild wild toy. I have 2 dirtbikes and a streetbike. Ive been in many wrecks. I find jumping a 140 ft jump on my dirtbike to be way more exciting. The registration on this thing is probably over 1300 probably the insurane is over 200 a month. Nah im totally good. I aint rich thats for sure but i got a lot of toys

It is NOT a supercar.. it doesn’t even compete with mid level porsches, not even close to Ferrari, Porsche’s, mclarens or Lamborghini’s true performance models. Do you honestly think this is even close to a F8 tributo, 720s, huracan? It wouldn’t even beat a 2009 GTR or new NSX which people barely call Supercars. Plus it lacks the high revs, the quality, the looks, the pure performance focus, the extreme transmission ect.. It’s a good value sports car with a mid engine, it’s not a supercar.
