It would be fun to see an overlay of your hands on the wheel steering. Nice driving Matt.

Nice! I'm taking my C5 there in August for my first track night! This is honestly one of the best videos I've watched of the track so far. Idk if it's bad camera angles or what, but most of the other videos I've watched have a warped speed/depth perspective, making the track look too narrow for the speeds people are hitting. Thanks for sharing, this is great!

Wow what a great track, good driving as well.. tracks in Southern CA can’t get to the 140 mph. Except Auto Club which is being demolished… grrrr

C8 can hit 155 at Road Atlanta back straight.

I am signed up for an event with NASA in August at VIR. I have run 4 events with Chin, now in their blue group, there. This video gives me pause with the NASA HPDE program. Quite a few you passed did not seem they should be in 3. Do you have any comparison with other organizations?

How long does it take to become this good at driving. Do you mostly run VIR? Its not like a sim as a mistake and the car is ruined...

Is it true that for PTM, at or right after apex you can full throttle and car will take care of rest? like if corner is too sharp it will reduce hp/wheel spin etc. So after apex you don't need to manipulate the throttle, just full throttle and cpu will take care of rest. ( will car go side way a little bit ? but not dangerous as PTM will save it?)

For the most part this is true. It is amazing at enabling drive out of a corner. Do this on a track where you know your corner exits are going to forgive you and you can learn how it behaves. There are still some circumstances where your path and speed could go past the point where stability management has enough grip to handle it though. For instance if the grip reduces quickly and you are already starting to excessively rotate then differential braking may not be able to pull things back into line. At NJMP my tires were overheated and I had a four wheel drift at the apex of the corner coming onto the pit straight. I applied a significant amount of power expecting to still pick up good drive. Instead the rear drifted out more even as PTM was trying to help.... The result required my steering correction and it wasn't elegant but together the car and I handled it.

@@mattevans2003 Awesome thanks for the helpful reply. So definitley don't do it on street? Will be dangerous huh especially I just got the car and don't get all the physics yet. Even when I do still don't do it? I don't think I can afford to do track days so I might never find out the PTM thing.......another question, when PTM is working, does it make the same machine gun noise like in C7 Z06?

@@okaythen001 Try it in a controlled environment - A parking lot would do, preferably when it's wet. On a slippery skid pad like environment you can invoke the interventions and learn more. Try different modes to compare what the car does. The challenge with experimenting on the street is that normally the car has a lot of grip and inducing the PTM actions is only going to happen at some very stupid speeds. I think many people will get overloaded with other problems even before you can sense and learn from what the traction management is doing. i.e. narrow lanes, uneven road surface, potential for vehicles/people/animals to be in your path unexpectedly. PTM is not going to save you from all the challenges you may run into but it will hopefully help. The machine gun noise you refer to sounds like rev limiter rather than PTM. When the power is reduced for PTM purposes it doesn't do that and that sound certainly wouldn't come from PTM brake applications.

Oh and if you can get to the Corvette Owners School in Nevada it is really going to help with learning more about these functions even if you only ever drive on the street.

Nice laps. What kind of prep to the car? Track alignment? Tires?

Thanks. Preparation included: Getting the transmission oil topped up per Chevy instructions, track alignment per Chevy instructions, Carbotech brake pads (XP12 for on track, which I swap back to 1521's for low dust street use - I don't get surface layer issues swapping back and forth. Had this issue before when swapping brands). The car goes great on the standard Michelin PS4's. I'm amazed at the performance and durability on track. I'll be replacing with Pilot Sport Cup 2's though for the coming season.

I've mostly spent time on motorcycles (dirt and road course), but I've done 20 track days in cars now (16 in my Camaro SS and 4 in this C8).

Sleeping or below average I think. It was only the first green lap but sloppy lines then the point by at the end of the straight was odd (wrong side).
