When I was ordering the car from Mcmulkin, I refused to get the car without the carbon ceramic brakes. I could have lived without all other options except the CCB, it was a must for me. I hate brakes dust and love the big brake look!!

Great vid dave. All tracksters i know up here only run iron for track as just too expensive as a consumable when your ceramics do need replacing. Nothing lasts forever and those are pricey compared to iron. I can live with wiping down the wheels myself. But you and brandon have definitely influenced me to step up to 2LZ. Can't justify additional coin for 3LZ when all our taxes in canada already put the car at near unobtainium. Comp seats for sure though!

100% agree with all your points. Great video , thanks for sharing! One thing though, is you can spec Carbon Ceramic brake package separately without having to go with the Z07 option. I did that on my 2024 however it costs $10k in Canada! Well worth it though.

I got my 2025 Z06 in September. 2LZ, HTC, non-Z07, but I got the Z07 aero, and the GT2 seats. Regrets? Should have got the 3LZ package with the GT3 seats. $8k for the break upgrade is way too much for a car I’m probably not gonna track that often. For that price I’ll deal with the break dust. Overall, I agree with you 100%! It’s a truly special car that will be a collector item down the road.

Great review!!! Hmm, we must have ordered about the same time. My initial order was accepted with the ZO7 pack and carbon fiber interior, but when the actual allocation was available at the dealer all carbon fiber was on constraint. I did save a bunch of money (over 20k) but didn't get exactly what I had in mind. I took delivery in Nov '23. Red Mist 3LZ coupe with lift, Scrape armor grill guards $895, stealth interior and badges, red intake & calipers, black wheels, red n black interior and a few other items. If I had it to do over, just one thing, I'd still want the Z07 visible carbon fiber with the carbon ceramic brakes (brake dust is no joke). I love seeing the motor through the glass but it's kind of an issue to keep it clean by getting in the trunk to wipe it down. Idk, HTC, Nah.

I've had a 3LZ HTC for around 4 months. For the money you can't buy a more special driving experience. At Porsche you can get a 911 Base with a few options. The main negatives I see are that it is extremely thirsty for gas, and that because Chevrolet is making so many, they will depreciate more than the competition from Porsche.

Yeah the brake dust is really bad.....I can live with it though for now. Not sure if they'll ever be an upgrade you can do. Paragon sells those other brake pads that helps with that but they say you can't really do much spirited driving with them so that doesn't really help with a car like this when you're going to be spirited driving every time you get in it. lol

I have a 2024 ZO6 and after filling it up with 18+gallons....It says I can go 168 miles. It's been that way since day 1 but it's not a daily driver. With the 5.5 litre fpc I am always in the peddle!

@ my screenshots in video are directly from the dash….. I get about 16.6 on average including racing days over the life of the car…… but yes some days where I just go out and run it hard I can easily get single digit gas mileage LOL. At Ron Fellows we managed 5 MPG

Go to Car and Driver lightning lap and look at the results or the Nurburgring times…… even with what everyone considers a disappointing (or fake) time of 7:10.51 the C8 Z06 is still 3 seconds faster than the C7 Z06’s OFFICIAL GM TIME of 7:13.9. It’s disappointing when folks like you get on KZbin to trash talk cars and not just enjoy what’s special about each one. I’m sure you are one of the few people who drove a C8 Z06 on track and decided it wasn’t for you and DEFINITELY not because you couldn’t afford one. I’ve actually tracked both and I can tell you stock for stock the C8 Z06 is a WAY better track car. The mods game goes to the C7 Z06 because they are easy to make close to 1000hp on the stock shortblock. Respect the community and each car for what it is and realize overall the C8 is a better car in each trim level

@ I can see arguing the process for what performance you gain. Thats what I’ve said for years about the C7 ZR1 vs C7 Z06. Unless you absolutely have to have the collectibility of the ZR1 there is absolutely no reason to buy one over the Z06! Buy a Z06 for 60’s and put $30k into it and it will destroy any stock ZR1 and you’ll still have money for gas and girls! Stock for stock the C8 Z06 is definitely better than the C7 Z06. I think your point of is it worth the extra money over the C7 Z06 for most drivers on the track….. and for most drivers I agree…. It’s not

They're not. I have a C7 ZO6/ZO7 and I wouldn't get the C8 ZO6 over it, and I've driven both. It's boring compared to the C7 stock for stock. Even more boring after you mod the C7 ZO6. Did a max effort build with Magnuson 2650 950whp, and still saved money over buying a C8 ZO6. Looks wise C8 is not a good looking car imo. Proportions are just off and doesn't look right. People complaining of brake dust should have gotten the carbon ceramic brakes as it completely eliminates brake dust and looks 10x better. You're gonna spend that much money on a car and not get the carbon ceramic brakes or ZO7 package?

And a max effort C7 Z06 would be amazing to experience but at that point you aren’t comparing stock to stock. Thats a more apples to oranges. I’m planning on getting a C7 Z06 and doing 2650 in the future so I’m not knocking your build/car. But stock for stock for me the C8 Z06 is a much better car

@ you have gone faster…. ever and Driver lightning lap at VIR the C7 Z06 is slower. Maybe not your modified Z06 but stock for stock there’s no comparison on a track. Even mildly modified and weight reduction with no tuning Brandon’s C8 Z06 does a 6.17 60-130 time and it’s posted all over his socials. How about you get your Dragy out and post a 60-130 time in your C7 Z06 with all that horsepower. You should easily be able to best that time. I love the C7 Z06 and will eventually do a max effort 2650 build but it’s not the same caliber of car as the C8 Z06. No need to bash one over the other though. Each generation is a small step forward in overall performance
