I just love this old Sansui equipment. Not only is it pleasure to listen to but a pleasure to work on due to its modular design! No wire-wound and solder to pin interconnects here mainly modular plugs between circuits. I myself have a AU-7900, AU- 717, TU-717, two 7070s, and an 881 in the queue to restore. Thanks for all the great videos!

Your welcome and thank you for watching. This equipment brings back some great memories. You also have some great Sansui gear! I still have my TU-717 from when I was a teenager. Oh that's right.....It's in the video, LOL. Thanks again!

@@vintageaudioaddict Hi just wondering do you have a link showing a list ofvthe types of capacitors you use and were certain types should be used? Such as using audio grade in signal paths but not as work caps as in power supply's or protection circuits because that would be a waste. Any help would be appreciated.

@@vintageaudioaddict This is the exact combination I still consider to buy - what timeless beauties and BA´s punch is unforgettable. We had one running in the 80ies powering a smoky room of maybe 25 square meters - those were the times

I would like to see a video of your process of ordering parts... Do you just sit down with the schematic and start ordering? I have to actually see the parts... I need to measure lead spacing on caps ect... At nearly $8 shipping for a typical Mouser order, I hate when I miss something and just need another part or two.
@vintageaudioaddict4 жыл бұрын
No, I just start the project. I work on so many units that I normally have all of the parts in stock except the filter capacitors as they vary in sizes and values between units. The physical size of the modern parts are almost always smaller then the originals so fitting them in is not normally an issue. Not sure if this will help but I did a video on finding parts - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqDHqXmrZshjfpI

I own one of these. Bought it in Japan in 1978 along with a BA-2000 and TU-717. I would really, REALLY like to know how to disassemble the big Alps volume pot to clean it as it's getting a bit noisy. It's completely sealed and unobtainium afaik.

Hello, I know you know your stuff. My amp has that dark corrosion layer on the flat buttons. What kind of solution/ cleaning method do you recommend? Thanks!
@vintageaudioaddict4 жыл бұрын
Usually warm water and dish soap will get most of the crud off. A Q-tip works well to clean around the flat buttons.
@cougar18614 жыл бұрын
On the assumption that the original (40+ year) transistors are no longer made, could you give the sources you rely on for substitutes, especially those who provide cross-reference lists. Thanks.
@maxkady94784 жыл бұрын
The krell gear from the early eighties destroys this stuff. Dan d’agostino is a genius. His class A amplifiers are incredible. So are his preamps. Sansui sounds too bright compared to his stuff. It’s nice to look at though.
