CA 60 West - The Pomona Freeway - Pomona to East Los Angeles

While this portion of CA 60 carries the same number as old US 60, this segment has very little - if anything - to do with the original US Highway. In fact, evidence recently uncovered by SoCal Regional Rocks points to this route originally being planned as State Route 26 and not US 60 before the 1964 renumbering. This makes sense, as the original highway paralleled the modern freeway on Mission Blvd to SR 71, where US 60 went north to co-route with US 70 and 99 along the San Bernardino Freeway (now I-10).
The Pomona Freeway and SR 60 both end at the southern end of the East Los Angeles Interchange, flowing directly onto the Santa Monica Freeway (previously the Olympic Freeway, modern I-10). SR 26 may have also been planned to run along the Olympic Freeway before being replaced with I-10, as it ran along Olympic Blvd proper.
Because of this, I do not consider this segment of freeway part of 'Historic' US 60, however it is one the most visually interesting freeways in the concrete jungle that is the Los Angeles Freeway System. It runs in the foothills of many small ranges and even climbs some minor hills to make it's connection. The views from this freeway heading West are only rivaled, in my opinion, by the Glendale Freeway (CA 2) South and Arroyo Seco Parkway (CA 110) South.
