Between Finchley Road and Baker Street, there are actually three disused stations. At 35:05, you can see the abandoned platform of Swiss Cottage. At 36:08, look closely for a very short platform on the left. That's what's left of Marlborough Road. And finally, at 37:08, just before the tunnel, there's the abandoned platforms at Lord's.

Great vid of your cab ride on the met. i use to be guard motormen (driver) many years ago on the disrict line based at parsons green depo at the time. stock we used were R stock, CP, CO. Had many fond memorys with them. brought back one of the last Q stock from upminister to acton town depo with car examiner on board. we applied the westinhouse only at various stns depending on the correct speed but lot crew would prefer the ep B system. had many injoyable times on the job though money crap not like there pay today. the job was more interesting as we had various 3 stocks around to drive. not like today s stock drive them selves. im fully retired but be allowed to retain my r stock door and driving charge up keys, shoe canvass straps though showing signs of wear. great vids of s stock cab rides, keep up the good work. Nice to be out in Metroland. Like another viewer said, station stops should be sub-titled. Can't figure out the signalling system though - sometimes there are loads of signals in quick succession on plain line, then nothing for a long time. And is there the equivalent of AWS on LU trains?

I'm not sure if it's been implemented yet but the jubilee was meant to be having ETCS fitted for testing, however due to the Neutral rail it's almost impossible to fit track mounted TP.

Why are there so many signals towards the end of the line? Entering Moorgate it looks like they are spaced closer than the length of a train.
@magicmasterfan15 жыл бұрын
because from baker street to liverpool street it shares the tracks with the circle and hammersmith and city lines, so theres way more train traffic in this section.

I believe there was a underground train crash at Moorgate In the mid 70’s, could explain the many signals, but I’m only guessing.

I'm not sure, it might involve emailing LU Customer Service and taking it from there or if you happen to know a tube driver ask them. I've heard it can be difficult to get permission to go because of 'elf and safety or security reasons (which is understandable I guess).

The driver is moaning about his job, but he’s on about £55,000 a year an can increase that to about seventy grand with little extra effort. All in a semi-skilled job.
@TheTraindriver854 жыл бұрын
Old Man firstly, it’s an Englishman’s right to moan lol, secondly, drivers CANNOT earn anything over their ‘salaried’ wage, as overtime isn’t allowed, unless the service is running late for whatever reason. As for me, a driver, who worked on old Westinghouse stock and passed out on it, it’s not a semi skilled job, it’s a skilled job, period, plus my level of service since ‘85, I’ve earned that £55k mate. You must be a Tory voter. Clear it for you any?
@maxmullen63374 жыл бұрын
Captain Blackbeard. My voting record is irrelevant. Train drivers earn a lot more than most skilled or unskilled workers. And as for the 70,000 I’ve read that it is perfectly possible. It’s to do with extra shifts etc.
@TheTraindriver854 жыл бұрын
Old Man extra shifts? Where the hell from? I suggest you do more research fella, your intel wherever you get it from is wrong, probably outdated hack news from the Standard, who’s had it in for train operators since as long as can remember. We have a set 5 day working week, no overtime, we’re salaried, Saturdays, Sundays and weekdays are all the same pay, and we work MORE weekends than ever before, pre Company Plan that is, and don’t get any extra for this, oh, I forgot to mention, working every bank holiday aswell, as long as it doesn’t fall on a rest day. So with that said, since I was a driver, that’s 35 years ago now till date, I should actually be on more than £55k if you take into account we used to get paid 12 hours for a Saturday, and 16 for a Sunday. Its a normal London salary considering my personal time in the company, I’ve earnt that pay.

Uxbridge, Hillingdon, Rayners Lane, etc, places of great nostalgic importance to me, now just a foreign country and totally alien. Meanwhile, the BBC is spending hours going on about some bloke I’ve never heard of who has died in America. All because he’s black. God, I hate this country.
