As someone who grew up in the Hull - Scarborough, line railbuses at 70mph on jointed track was like a fair ground ride.

I grew up in Rochdale, I have fond memories of getting the train back from Manchester slightly drunk (ok, very drunk) and it was an event to say the least!

These units outlasted many of the old dmu heritage ones in service life. They had very solid underframes and strong bar couplings. I liked them, myself. A great video!

They just remind me of being drunk coming back from Manchester, but for all the right reasons! A true workhorse

Loved watching this. Been obsessed with these things since buying the Blackpool Branches line for TSW4 and enjoying driving them. Great to see it in real life, and amazing how good a job they did with the game.

I need to get back into TSW, I never seem to have the time but things are easing off at the minute, it seems a good time to give it another go

Northern 142s used to regularly go from Doncaster to Meadowhall, have many memories of the backache.

Most of my memories on them, I was drunk 🤢 never a good combo!

Probably the best cab ride video on KZbin. One where you can see the track but most importantly what the driver is actually doing. It’s so lovely to watch. Lots more like this pleeeeeeeeease. They’re very much appreciated. ( would be even better to see more of the Speedo, brake gauges too etc. Thank you so much !

Hi Gary, thank you for taking the time to comment. I am really proud of this video and it was thanks to the help of Midland Railway Butterley for being so accommodating. I do hope to invest in a 3rd camera this year once the main summer season kicks off, this means I can use my older camera for a close up of dials, and keep the fancier more modern cameras for the main angles, scenery etc.

I Miss those Pacer Railbuses when Northern and other train services doesn't have it anymore. :( In 2011 to 2020 I Use to go traveling on the Northern Class 142 from Workington to Carlisle & Carlisle to Newcastle with My Family and I really enjoyed it for ride on the Pacer Railbus cuz It feels like a Roller-coaster when it was bumpy but also I Travelled on the Class 144 Pacer from Manchester Victoria to Moston with My Mom for to see My Great Nanna and I See a Fridge Magnet and It has a Class 142 with Regional Railways Livery on it Back in Early 2012, So Anyways we'll miss all the pacers and we won't forget these pacers for our train memories. #Nostalgia

I used to live in Rochdale and commute to Manchester, they have a special place in my heart. I could tell you 1001 memories from the back on one. I am glad people are keeping them alive, yeah I admit heritage steam is a bit more glamorous but we need all our history preserved and at the minute these are cheap to run.

I'm coming in peace, just looking for some 142 videos before new Blackpool route for Train Sim World 4 is released to get right feeling. I've never been to England, now the Pacers are gone...

Hi, this is the only 142 I have footage of (so far) but hopefully it helps you get a feel before TSW.
@UnearthlyChild757 Жыл бұрын
Only main difference between this and the one in TSW 4 is that instead of the Cummins LTA 10R with a Voith gearbox as featured on this. My guess is the one in TSW will be the original Leyland TL11 with the self changing gears as the route looks like it takes place in the mid to late 80s

I’ve had many journeys on these from Colne to Preston/Blackpool. I really love these trains. The brake/flange squeal, the bouncing over points and jointed track, the noise of the engine. I do miss them. It was very bouncy in this video, the track quality must’ve been quite poor. As it usually is on heritage lines.

I am from Burnley, so I am very familiar with the line in question. It still has request stops where you put your hand out which is just amazing! This line is good, probably one of the better heritage lines, the position of the camera didn't help. Of course on a pacer it will always be a bit bouncy though.

Great video. Now The pacer will come to TSW4 so I can get a Bit of the feeling at home in Austria.

I haven't given any of the TS games a go, I have an xbox and feel like I should at least try one but I know it will no doubt be better on PC.

Sitting there the proud owner of the golden nugget licence something I always wanted to do, sadly never moved near enough to a depot and applied like 100 times lol I wouldn't wanna do it now anyways the train cabs are probably like sitting in a plastic box with hardly a window you can open.

I was relieved when they replaced them on my local with 156s and 158s but honestly I kind of miss bouncing between Morpeth and Newcastle at 75mph 😂

I agree. Modern trains are so boring.
@KeithJones-yq6of Жыл бұрын
Not the most difficult of vehicles to operate, are they?
@TheTouristLine Жыл бұрын
They are built for ease, that's why a lot of heritage railways are running them on quieter days
@KeithJones-yq6of Жыл бұрын
They were built for cheap running and maintenance. In terms of ease, give me any modern train on a black day compared to these.

It's a heritage line, most are limited to 30mph
@Greggs30806 Жыл бұрын
On the mainline when it was in service, it can hit 75mph, but because it's now operating on a heritage railway, it's only allowed to go 25mph unfortunately
