Cabarita Beach, a town in northeast New South Wales, is a relaxing and picturesque coastal getaway less than an hour and a half drive from Brisbane and less than an hour from the Gold Coast.
The beach itself and nearby Norries Headland are popular tourist attractions, with a great boardwalk leading to the top, offering great views for whale or surfing watching.
Cabarita means by the water in the Aboriginal language. David Anderson, private in the New South Wales Legion, was granted land in the Cabarita Beach area in 1795. The area around Cabarita Point was reserved for recreation in 1856.
Since then, Cabarita Beach has remained a coastal town with a laid-back beach lifestyle.
