Cabela's 3/4 HP Carnivore Meat Grinder Review

We purchased a new meat grinder for grinding meat to use in our homemade dog food. We had previously tried smaller grinders and were very disappointed in their performance. We were hoping the larger meat grinder would perform better. We are not sponsored by Cabella's or BassPro Shops, this is 100% our personal opinion.

Before grinding your meat. Spray the knife and grinder plates with a food grade lubricant to cut down on heat buildup due to friction.

We have been using food grade lubricant on the blades recently. It does seem to work.

This was very helpful, thank you! Our 3/4 grinder is still in the box, just purchased this week, and it will be easier to figure out since reading manuals is very difficult for me. Regarding the drying immediately, I do know that even stainless steel will rust, albeit slowly. The thin edges of razors, for example, get dull mainly because of the rust that can develop on those razor-thin edges. Maybe the manufacturer is concerned about the cutting edges of the blade, or the threads slowly oxidizing. (?)

Maybe, not sure. Either way, we have had it for over a year and it looks like its brand new still. Easy maintenance by just drying it after washing by hand and then occasionally adding some lubricant.

Just hope all that pork is safe for your babies. But thank you for the demonstration of the meat grinder, I want to get one and grind my own meat for burgers and sausage

We talked to our vet and she didn't have any issue with the food. We also moderate their intake by giving them some commercial dog food that has other ingredients. As for the meat grinder, I'd say get one. This thing is a terrific meat grinder.
