Cabela's Commercial-Grade 50-Lb. Meat Mixer

Ordered one after watching your vid... took great care in leveling and alignment prior to use. I loaded it this weekend with 30 pounds for summer sausage and it lasted less than 4 minutes. I heard something in the gear box starting to make a ticking sound then it completely locked up and my carnivore motor flipped the entire rig on its side. Could not express how mad I was with my meat flipped out on the table and against the wall.

Kevin, man we are so sorry to hear you had a horific experience with the Cabelas meat mixer. Like you, after seeing all of the negative online reviews we were skeptical too and still use ours with caution. We made our videos to share our experience with the product and up to now we have mixed well over 150lbs of meat. Hopefully you can at the least get a refund for the broken mixer. Thanks for the review. I would have liked to see the handle in operation and also how it attaches to the grinder. Are the instructions accurate and helpful? I notice you are using a carnivore meat grinder to power that mixer. What size motor are you using? Will a 3/4hp motor work?

We are using the #22 grinder, which has a 1HP motor. I’m sure the 3/4hp motor would work, it is at least worth trying! Hand cranking the mixer is not fun.

Maybe call Cabelas customer service and ask them, but I would imagine since it has a gear box on it that any of the Cabelas commercial mixers are powerful enough to run the mixer. Plus there isn't really a whole lot of resistance in mixing meat. I just bought one of these (well my nephew picked it up for me since he works at Cabelas and get 45% off Cabelas branded items) only cost me $150. Looking forward to making lots of sausage for the upcoming fall football season.

@southernoutdoors1862 we have had this mixer ever since we did the video and it has not failed one time. I'm not saying there are bad apples from the manufacturer but ours definitely works as intended. Make sure to check out the ones at Waltons meats too! Good luck....JBO
