I haven’t minded watching the bathroom remodel at all. There’s a learning curve. If you get the chance one day, you can change the flooring to something else. If not, you’ll move on to another project with the knowledge you gained. I am loving the outside light!!! You are doing a great job!

Great idea for your snow pole! I have a log home, too, and the chinking is cracking with age. The cabin is 38 years old. I had the outside corn blasted 3 years ago, and it took it down to the bare logs. The same company restained it, and put a sealer on it. It looks like a new cabin, and am glad I had it done for maintenance reasons. Wow! Your wall looks fantastic!! The bathroom construction has been very interesting…not to “endure” at all! It is, after all, part of you life in Alaska! Not to fret about your floor seams…once your furniture and fixings are in, you won’t notice them. Your outside light is going to come in real handy! Great video!!! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻

FYI, the visible light spots in the floor, try running a pencil over them, the graphite will darken them and they'll be less noticeable.

Having lived in the south all my life, its hard for me to imagine having to have a snow pole to measure snow. The deepest I have ever seen was 6 inches 1 time. We haven't had any snow in Georgia in several years. I hope it continues to stay in Alaska. 😅

With the seams and chips.... a chisel edge sharpie in the tan - gray colors helps!!! Blend by doing a skip mark (_____ _ ______) idea... so it's not a solid line. Work light colors first. When those seams show, use the darkest color first and that should help camo them for you. Good luck! The remodel/repairs is good info for anyone anywhere. You're doing great!!!

Great job, it looks fantastic. The chinking looks really good. You may consider the vinyl planting that doesn’t click. We call it drop and flop. It’s flexible and you glue it down. If a piece gets damaged you can pull it up. We really like it. Bit Home Depot, at least in our area doesn’t carry it, Anyways you bathroom is awesome. 🌷🇨🇦

I enjoy your construction videos. That light is amazing. We might have to get one of those. Last trip up at the cabin, we walked back to the outhouse and surprised a bear. (or it surprised us) Luckily we went opposite directions. We do have motion sensor lights out there, but nothing we can scan with. That is pretty cool. We use high powered flashlights, and or headlamps currently.

I have my starlink on the bottom edge of my roof. Mind you I have had it since early beta testing, and it is heated so snow isnt an issue. and I use it for messenger ,video calling. No data.. And it is going to be phone friendly soon. Move it to the edge of your roof.. they are tough.. your speeds will double. And that light looks like one I bought for my truck, for construction deliveries, but in fact never used.. wasn't cheap either.. Have a good winter.

Alone, might you consider, since your current project, the bathroom, since it seems so large, as you age, those stairs to your current bedroom could become quite a challenge and danger even if you have perfect stairs, to set your bedroom up in your new bathroom?

take a can of stain and and roll it over the flooring. then go back and touch up the lighter spots. there are no perfect houses Alone.. even new houses have flaws and defects. it's what makes your house unique.. these little things. as long as it's clean and comfy... ?

The floor looks great! I think I would go over the white with a marker that matches the floors so it didn't catch the eye so much. The chinking really made the logs look like a feature. I am looking forward to the next steps.

There is one big trailer I did with a flooring that the boss made me buy which was cheap and it was real thin I ended up having to Brad nail down the whole floor cause it kept coming apart that thin stuff is garbage I like thicker the better I even had one floor almost the same as what you're talking about I had to put stain on a rag and wipe the seams to get it to hide the seams

The chinking looks good. How are you going to drain your tub? That outdoor light brings into focus how dark it gets out in the wilderness. I wonder if linoleum would work better. You could put an area rug across it.

Very dark flooring color. I'm surprised you didn't go with something lighter and warmer in tone to lighten the room on dark winter days. I would have gone with a warm golden oak that had a lot of grain in it for visual interest. Grain also makes any flaws that happen when you lay the floor less noticeable. My advice: never go with a "solid" color that doesn't show woodgrain: First, it looks fake. Second, as you noted, later in the video, every speck of everything shows up. In terms of fitting flooring up against the wall, I would have simply left a small gap and put in baseboard. You can use a simple straight board for baseboard -- no need to pay for expensive trim. I have laid a LOT of plank flooring. If you get good quality, it will hold up well. You should not be able to see WHITE lines in the laid floor -- that tells me you went with a cheaper quality flooring. However, I wouldn't worry -- those lines will soon collect dirt and stop being so visible. 😊 Well, that's how we learn -- by doing! BTW, the chinking color looks fabulous!

Hi Alone, I agree with you that the chinking color really does complement the logs. So sorry about the flooring. I positive is that you discovered in this one room before starting on the rest of the cabin.. You are so creative.. you'll probably figure out what to do in the area where the greatest distraction on the flooring is. I love watching your building videos too. None of them have been boring to me.. Til next week.. Hi to Kenai too : )

I used to install that flooring in all our RVS love it so easy put down but my boss always liked to go cheap on it and what I've found is don't go cheap on it cuz it don't like danger lock harder always pops apart thicker the better even had one trailer that I didn't nice thick interlocking flooring being that it was a small trailer the cost wasn't that bad but it even suffered flood damage and the floor still stood up yes some some of the seemed curl the very very little but I was amazed at how good it stood up after being flooded from a big flood we had in town😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
