There is so much that is great about this channel! Hard work, Accurate well thought out designs, No unnecessary commentary or wasteful chit chat, No paid sponsorships distracting the main event. They deserve more subscribers. Chris is a brave man on that ladder, safety line if used would still result in him hurting himself. It is going to be interesting watching the hard work involved in getting the roofing boards on that roof.

I will be glad to see the roof finished. I find myself holding my breath when Chris is working in precarious spots! Y’all are doing a great job regardless of how tense I get.

42:56 Oke, In our parts it is customary to put a large branch of a tree on the top of a building when the highest point of the building has been reached... I guess putting a guy with big arms up there works to...

Great job. Canadian here. Will you be cladding the ends before first snow, or just insulating as I see on many other Alaska builds? And at what point do you think you can move in? Whatever the answer, know I am looking forward to watching your progress.

Just letting you know that 3 nails or screws in a stud is enough when u put more then you can make the wood Crack or split and then it becomes weekend but some time over kill isn't doing you much good

Nice - are you doing a metal roof or shingled roof? Trying to think if gutters would make sense or just a little ditch in the drip area lined with plastic and then covered with river rocks draining away the melt. Peel and stick ice melt. Will you tape the seams on the inside of the house wrap? Will you add another layer of interior vapor block under the drywall or finished wall? Then a good coat of paint and primer will act as another barrier. Hoping you will get the ice barrier on before snowfall.

that wire mesh will noy stop porcupines and bigger squirrels.
@northtoalaska2022
@northtoalaska2022 17 минут бұрын
I don't think a porcupine will fit in a 1.5 inch gap and luckily we only have tiny red squirrels that can't chew through steel.

Hint: To make it easier to erect the overhang, attach the support board so that it pivots and holds the weight before raising it so you can use it to push it up. 29:49.

We pay 65 dollars each for a sheet of OSB here in Kindersley, Sask!!! Our groceries run on par with yours….it is an oil town so they seem to think we are all rich I guess. So new builds or renovations are at an alltime low. The economy is insane and it’s only getting worse. Your housing cost are also lower than ours. Sometimes I think it would be more cost effective to live in Alaska but were are seniors so it’s not an option….lol

Where's the plywood.. I hope your not going to put metal on top of the 2x4s. It's going to be so loud in the house. Insulation will be soaked Or are you sheathing after insulation. I don't get. Retired builder of 35 years but not in Alaska.
