I must say it's super cool seeing a cabin similar to the one my family and I had while I was growing up (ours is in BC, Canada in the Cariboo area). We have a different cabin now 2 properties over, the cabin that was originally owned by my Oma and Opa (which is my moms parents) 1 of her brothers has his own property just across the bay of the lake that our cabins are all at, and the cabin that was ours (along with his own cabin) is owned by my moms other brother (due to unfortunate family dynamics the brother/uncle that owns 2 cabins, he doesn't talk to anyone else in the family, it's a whole thing). At our lake we had a significant forest fire in July 2017 and it got so close that we could see the fire from our neighbours dock, just across the lake at the resort. That was the Elephant Hill Fire. One thing that the wildland firefighters told us to do was to put sprinklers on our roofs and turn them on at full blast in the event of a fire, basically you'd rather be dealing with water damage than a completely gone house and also it creates a very damp mini climate for the area which helps to protect things, and gives firefighters in the area a safeish place to rest cause the theory is "if the area is super damp, it won't burn" and then they can take a pause to rest and not worry as much that they're in immediate danger.
