Haven't watched but a minute of the video and wanted to comment that this isn't an old house...it looks very well kept. Something is mixing with the rain ....to cause concrete to do this. I've owned my current home for 22 years-the concrete was poured in the 1950's. The concrete sidewalks have been a very light gray, almost white until about five years ago. It seemed like overnight they were turning very dark. Now, they look black in places. I see these videos on YT and the concrete looks just like mine. I notice peoples roofs look covered in it as well. What is going on y'all? Had anyone else noticed this change?

I imagine it's soot from all the forest fires last year making its rounds in the airstreams and/or atmosphere, since it can stay up in the air for a very long time without coming down until conditions are right.

yup. That's why I bought the pressure washer and steam wash cause we are being bombarded and the more we leave it around our property, the deeper the damage.
@overtheedge232 жыл бұрын
The plants in the surroundings have a huge impact on that. If I wouldn´t pressure wash the concrete areas around our house, it would black as well after 3 years latest.

That’s when I will sell and move! Everyone that I have talked to who sold for this reason said that they were so relieved to not be overwhelmed with worry or having to rely on others for their responsibilities. One wise elderly woman even said,”owning a home is a privilege,not a right!” Even when you have grown children with their own homes, they should help with storm damage or when their parents were temporary unable,but even they should not have to maintain two homes on an ongoing basis. It’s called seasons of life,let a younger family have all the joy and work now.😊

I was just driving out in a country road yesterday and I saw what could be a beautiful house but it is so overgrown and in need of a serious cleaning and I thought it was either what you were saying or my first thought was that it was a relative or something that took it over and doesn't take care of it anymore. But you could tell at one time someone took some serious pride in that lawn and house.

Same with those of us disabled younger folks 😉 Can't agree with you more. This is how REAL people help others. They don't just virtue signal to inflate their egos so they feel superior. Love this content too. My best to you 🐝

It’s this that reminds me why we should love in villages. One person LOVES cleaning off concrete, the next loves cutting grass, the next could knit ALL DAY, someone else adores cooking... But when we live separately, we have to do a little bit of everything, including things we either hate or haven’t the capacity or skill to do, we either don’t do it or it makes us unhappy. I think it’s the cause of a lot of stress.

I’m a disabled single mom and watching this just makes my heart so happy! You literally cannot know the difference this makes because it’s not only an aesthetic of it, but having lost control of your yard or some other aspect of home maintenance, feels like you have lost control of your whole life (and in fact sometimes it feels that way). The shame involved with not being able to keep up with all the things even though we’re disabled or elderly; it’s deep and intense. When you do this in a way, with empathy and kindness and not making it about you and also not shaming the homeowner -it’s like a magic balm for the soul.

Feel ya. One of my neighbors redid his wife garden when her physical health declined Into a easily maintained a Stone and sand garden with very easy maintained plants and bushes together with a Cherry tree so she can still water and do easy things as it was her peace to garden.. a beautiful zen garden that was fitted for what she could do on Good Days. Can be hard when the body fails you and blocks you from doing what you has a buring passion for. So maybe a tip for you to making you feel bad if one you trust can redesign it for your needs and build up you

I’m a disabled Mom, too, but still married. Even with us, our standards have slowly eroded, until one day you look at the house and say ‘Who LIVES here!?!’. I make beautiful jewelry, but I can’t clean the house or do the gardening. At all (seriously, I have anaphylactic reactions to dust and pollen…). I wish I lived in a ‘village’ where I could trade services with others. The work required to sell my stuff, then use that income to hire someone is beyond my capacity. There must be a better way.
