I just bought one of these and the saw 😊 can’t wait for it to arrive and start playing.. You make it look nice and simple to set up. Will be definitely using your guides. I’ve been waiting for ages for it to be on Aussie soil and finally picked up one from Lapidary Supply Store in NSW and she will be on the road to Western Australia soon 😊

This was very helpful. I am thinking of getting the 8" and the attachment. I'm still looking at 10" inch trim saws though because I am unsure about how well it will cut/slide around and slightly thicker rocks that are too small for the large machines to cut. Thanks for for sharing.

Excited to get my CabKing, but a little worried watching the video with how the trim saw is set up, kinda needs a locking guide for the plastic housing to lock it into the right place because it seems it can move while you work damaging the plastic in your video.

I have found that once you have it set up the little rubber feet keep it in place pretty well. You could up grade to a Hi-Tech trimsaw. Here is an affiliate link to the one I own as well as my CabKing saw. amzn.to/3NeX9yX The blade is smaller on the Hi-Tech trim saw but its a great saw. Hope this helps.

@@mpmp1121 All in all the CabKing is a good all purpose saw. A few nicks and cuts on the plastic isn't a big deal. Just make sure you have the blade and the platform lined up before you fire it up. You should be good.

Very good video. What's to stop the water tray moving around when the trim saw is attached? It looks like a good setup but I'm not sure about that slab saw being stable. Please let me know if it can be a problem in use?
@GotchaRocksJewelryDIY
@GotchaRocksJewelryDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Malcolm, good question. When you first set it up you can move it around easily to fine tune it so that the blade doesn't hit the sides. As far as cutting stones I haven't had any issues with the base moving or slipping. Most of the force is being placed on the blade as apposed to the base. So far so good. I have cut jaspers, agates and jade. The jade was obviously harder for the blade to get through but no movement below. I suppose if you really bummed the base it would move. A good rule is don't force anything in to the saw and move slowly. Okay, I don't want to ramble so I will sign off. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment.😁 Michael

Looking forward to my CabKing 6 with saw attachment to arrive soon. Great explanation of the setup process. Quick question. How long do the wheels last? I know it would depend upon usage and type of rock but would you be able to compare their lifespan in comparison to some Galaxy wheels and Nova wheels? Are the standard wheels supplied by CabKing of good quality?
@GotchaRocksJewelryDIY
@GotchaRocksJewelryDIY 2 жыл бұрын
The wheels you get with the machine are high quality and should last you a while. Just make sure to use a bunch of water when cutting. If you grind dry it will burn them out pretty fast. I have only had to replace the 600 and the 280 wheel. It been at least 3 years. Here’s my link to where I sell them if you are interested. gotcharocks.com/cabking-lapidary-machine/ All the best, Michael

I have an 8" cabling, they're the best. However I use underwater wheel fountains instead of the water system. They don't create any contamination between wheels either. That's a wives tale. I don't have to refill the water etc, plus you can see the water is actually hitting the wheels. The sprayers that come with the machine appear to be working after a while but they get clogged.
@GotchaRocksJewelryDIY

The 8” is a nice machine. Try adding a little white vinegar to the water I have found that help. We have pretty hard water. What kinds of stones are you cabbing?

Yeah, it’s definitely a wives tale for cabochon machines but hand polishing is where the wives tale becomes real, I’ve messed up some stones because I had that one tiny piece of 60 grit on my 5000 grit and scratched the crap outta my polish and had to polish all over again, i usually use talc though because of how soft that kind of stone is and it’s easy to shape by hand compared to quartz, I’ve tried to hand polish quartz and I’ve only ever rounded it up by sanding it for hours and hours and HOURS, took me 3 days to make a centimeter dent in the quartz, it’s really hard to hand sand.

Hey i made the mistake of buying a vevor cabbing machine. The vevor is very similar to the cabking but it has that same bolt you used to unscrew the shaft holding the wheels and mine is too tight against the metal and it just will not come off and i can't get it to space out. Any tips on what i could do it?. I can't get it to separate and it keeps tightening more and more. I removed the little bolt that holds it in place but it just won't move. It needs to leave enougth space so the machine can turn.
@GotchaRocksJewelryDIY

Hello, the nuts threads on the left side of the machine may be the threaded the opposite direction to prevent it from loosening during use. Basically the opposite of the “righty tighty and lefty loosey” rule. Double check the instructions but that’s my best guess on that machine. Let me know how it goes.

Hi, thanks for the video on the CabKing setup. I happened to order an 8" machine yesterday, but after watching your video, two questions came to mind: I would have my machine sitting on a some base cabinets in the garage and would not have easy access to the back of the machine when it comes to changing the wheels with the saw. Also, I don't know how long the water hoses are. My bucket would need to sit in front of the cabinets. Do you think that would be a problem? Second question is concerning the flat lap disk. Do you know if CabKing has other grit sizes available other than the supplied #360?
