People commented on the price. Ialso was sticker shocked first. But the boat seems to be very well cared for and has a busload of upgrades wich are pricy. Of course you have to go through the log files to see all this but keep in mind how much the owner has spend on her , then you understand the asking price

One of main safety features is SPEED. And as lovely as this comfortable, beautiful vessel is- it is just a bit slow compared to all modern an many older ones. I like the setup and serviceability tho. Very important stuff I guess.

Beautiful boats, love the clipper bow and cutter rig but hugely disappointed with the interior space and the size of the cockpit for a 38' yacht, only a quarter berth and vee-berth with a makeshift nav station leaves a lot to be desired, I could name several 36' boats of a similar vintage with two cabins, a dedicated nav station and a quarter berth. Case in point my Stadt 34' has a double berth aft cabin, a vee-berth, a dedicated nav station, bigger galley and a port side L-shaped setee which converts into a double berth, as well as a stbd setee sea-berth with lee cloth, as big if not bigger cockpit and a full beam aft lazarette with built in gas locker big enough for two 9kg cylinders, also designed in the mid 80's, there's a lot of wasted space aft on these boats IMO, of course it helps significantly if the boat is tiller steered space wise, I also don't like things like house bank and inverter/MPPT's etc to be in an outside locker no matter how well sealed they may seem, still a beautiful boat though, very seaworthy and heavily built, lovely sheer line and overall profile especially the clipper bow and bowsprit, I'm presuming that there are running backstays? I also noticed that there were only two cockpit primary winches and one non self tailing cabin top winch which I presume the self tacking staysail sheet would be run to? Regardless a very pretty boat

Years ago, an emphasis for ocean-going yachts was to minimise top hamper mass & windage. Seems everyone these days wants lots of it to avoid the weather they've elected to sail in, or to facilitate the likes of davit-mounted dinghy! The mind boggles....

@gbmacc5818 күн бұрын
@@dannywilliams5192 Congratulations on your impressive sailing record. Actually, I have experienced 9 round the world trips, including 2 roundings of Cape Horn, so am familiar with adverse weather experiences. Have skippered numerous yachts, including one of my own (mostly single-handed, albeit with the immensely helpful 'crewmember' of a Monitor windvane). In the sort of adverse conditions I've experienced numerous times, the sort of 'weather protection' you favour would be ripped off from a yacht of even over 100 feet LOA by wind and/or sea within minutes. I recognise the liveable comfort of the protection you crave, but argue that it should be readily removable where conditions demand. It would appear you have navigated with great prudency to avoid extreme conditions, which of course is itself a skill to be applauded.
