I had a kayak come off a Subaru about 50yrs in front of me on NH 93. Ran it completely over and didn’t do a lick of damage to my rig. A state trooper showed up and reamed the guy out for 20min, then cited him. Served him right! 😂

I couldn't wait to get out of cabovers, but now I miss them. Never drove the Peterbuilts or Kenworths, mostly just Internationals and Freightliners. The only thing air ride was the seat in most of them. When it came time to hit the bunk, sleep came pretty quickly.

They only use cannons on HWY 2 now. Over Snowqualamie they have cable runs on towers up the avalanche chutes. There is a winch under the canvas on the little tower. They hook explosives on the cable and it goes up the mountain on the cable and drops off and explodes to bring the snow down.

20:23 I spent the night down there on that off-ramp, backed up to the forest service gate. Lost the fuel pump on my pickup, and had to wait four hours for my dad to come save me with my trailer. That was a long night.

Once again nice being in the jump seat. Well ya dodged the bullet as you stayed ahead of the snow. It looked at times it was going to start any minute. Boy Orwell sure gets the job done. No sensor problems with Orwell, to busy just a tugging. Nice views of the country side and the pass, another fine video FSC. Have yourself a great and a safe day, happy trails and happy motoring.

If I had to pick a favorite truck channel, this is it. I drive a red and white '84 Int 9670 and travel much the same lanes as you do FSC. Hope to see Orwell in person eventually. Driving a cabover is a lot like driving a classic car up and down the road.

brings back so many memories.. I Grew up in Maple Valley off Highway 18... I drove over it starting in 1980 thru 2015 when I retired from 35 plus yrs in trucking.. love your camera angles... interesting to see more than just lookin out the windshield..I hauled US Mail for a contractor for over 20 yrs...pulled doubles alot.. mostly at night and in winter had to chain quite a bit.. we had old PIE Freightliner Cab overs tractors powered by 318 Detroits and 10 spds..thanks for the memories Steve!! Ive subscribed to your channel...if you get out that way again would you consider making more content around Seattle area? I retired to Florida in 2015 and miss seeing my old stomping grounds..:)

I did 27 years hauling U.S. mail myself, and boy has the bottom dropped out on that. Now I just do general freight, after 35 years of trucking, but I'm still home everyday. I'm glad all of my mail hauling time was mostly on flat ground, except for running through West Virginia and Pennsylvania, who's mountains can't compare with those out west. No chains east of the Mississippi River.

That was a nice drive, thanks for sharing 👍🏻. I wish it had been snowing! Hi Steve awesome video, love the angles you choose, just perfect. Been retired for some time but remember the mountains in inter. 5 axle isn’t bad but super b 8 axle 140,000 lbs it tends to be a challenge. 600 h.p. And 2050 torque with 18 speed and all 8 wheels lock-in up is handy to have, problem is drivers with no common sense holding up traffic and making poor decisions. Safe travels my friend

I went over the mountains that day. Heck if I had stopped at the TA I may have seen you. Darn! Yeah, the Cascadia winds were bad that day. They're caused by a huge offshore area of low pressure so the wind blows towards it from the East. So the Olympic Peninsula also had high winds that day. Gusts upwards of 70mph they were saying. Also, that little hut you were asking what it was for was when they used to fire a smaller howitzer or whatever and launch a shell for avalanche control. (They no longer utilize it). And yeah... The Winter came super early this year, all that snow came in Deember which isn't super unusual however we usually get rain and stuff first. We skipped Fall in the mountains and went straight to winter it was a tough few weeks too, multiple pass closures due to large amounts of snow, spin outs, etc.

It can snow anytime of the year up on the summit and just down below it. Now in some communities it can snow in June and did in Bend Oregon where me and Dad thought we'd have to turn back to Portland because there was snow on one of the passes before Bend and he didn't have chains in his trunk and we were lucky to get over the pass because the roads were just clear enough and warm enough to where the snow didn't stick to them.

Youre required to carry chains over Snoqualmie from Oct-Mar if I remember the signage correctly. Im up and down the I 5 corridor mostly, but have bounced over that pass a few times. Glad you did this vid, Wed Ill be over in my POV, and am going to be taking my travel trailer over that around the 20th of the month. Snoqualmie and a few other passes are areas Im concerned about.

The snow amount I though you see that in Up state NY by the broader of Canada but it seem you get it the same up in the mountains on the west coast. But it shuts down the high way when snow falls or huge avalanche happens. Huge snow blowers and plows to clear them roads. Look at all of the ski slops, never seen one before like that..

I apologize for the lack of punctuation. My point is still… On POINT. Our incredible industry is lost. I wore cowboy boots for the first 30 yrs of my career. Shirt tucked in, sleeves rolled exactly 2(two( times. Now? “Drivers” wear sandals, shorts, wife beater t-shirts, and don’t understand why they get NO respect ! Take PRIDE in your job! Regardless if it’s trucking or changing tires at a shop. I’m only 57. I’m sickened at what the “White Nights of the Highway” have become. I’ve said this for so many years I can’t remember… “Anyone can drive a truck… Not everyone can be a “Truck Driver”.
