Brilliant interview, one point to note though, the F-86A through L was never designed with wing mounted guns, the F-84 had wing root guns as well as nose guns. The F-86K and L also had cannon armaments though only 4x20mms instead of the ADEN 30mms ours had.

The American earlier version F-86's had 6 x 12.7mm (.50 cal) HMG in the nose where the Australian CAC-27's had 2 x 30mm Aden Cannon in the same position. I was not aware that the later American versions were fitted with 20mm cannon, good to know, thanks.

I can remember hearing a Sabre break the sound-barrier over the Derwent River at Hobart. It would have been some time in the 50s'.

if there is such a thing as a pretty aircraft.......it has to be the CA-27 Sabre and that goes with the F-86

Yes we produced a better plane than the Americans. But at double the cost and double the time .
