An old Victorian home is the setting for veteran treasure hunter Jerry Eckhart as he demonstrates common hiding places for money, both inside and outside, in such old homes.

Another great place to detect is beneath old clotheslines. Yes, there are some of the metals from clothespins, but coins fell from pockets, too. Feel above the door jam over & inside the closet beneath the stairway, or in bedroom closets built after the turn of the century. They would build convenient empty trays above the doors. I actually found a "girley" mag inside one of them in an old house. :) Thank you Mr. Garrett. A delightful tour of this Victorian home.

Our Queen Anne Victorian was built in 1855. We have dug up and/or found many fun and exciting things around "this old house"!

Tip, look for the area where the "old out house was located" they would lose coins from their pockets while their pants were down.

Loved this video and the gentleman was so helpful with all those tips. Have a house in our field that's over 100 years old. Although not victorian, the original owners were of the wealthier ones and I will certainly put those tips to use. The lady of the house was known to drink and have fits at times, and had a chicken business and was very stingy with her money. Maybe she buried or his some of it, and forgot where she put it.

When I was 9, I found 6 $20 silver certificates wrapped inside about 12 different types of paper inside a fruit jar placed inside a dutch oven buried under the sawdust beneath a pile of crate lids in the attic of a potato house on a farm my parents bought from my great aunt years after her husband died. Should have never shown them to my mom, never saw them again.

3 + people can't find silver ! I've watched a few Garrett Detectors videos... Some of the guys you have working for you are freaking Idiots. This guy is different, he is a genius and I'd love to talk to him, but will likely never happen. So I'm blessed to watch this informative educational video! Thanks Garrett PS I bought an AT Pro and LOVE It, I find a good deal and would love to make videos with/for you guys, having film making experience and detect experience. I think you would be pleased.

My granddaddy kept his $$ in a tin can under the floorboards of his house. My father told me that this money (paper) would smell really musty after a while and some people would smell the money after he used it to pay for something.

I have watched loads of metal detecting videos now and it looks like a cool hobby so I think I will get me one. I have loads of land around where I live that could be holding treasures. Just the other side of my garden fence lies a Roman Fort. It's a raised area of land thats about 40x40 meters and 2 meters high with a moat round it which you can clearly see on Google Earth. These are the coordinates to the center of it 51degrees56'29.28"North 0degrees14'01.32"West. Just to the north is a 700 year old church with a graveyard. I cant do any detecting on the graveyard but around it will be ok. I just cant wait to see if I can unearth some treasures like the Staffordshire hoard where some guy found Saxon gold worth £3 Million or about $5.5 Million. Can some one tell me what detector I should get as a beginner? I dont want one that is for a beginner but is user friendly. Thanx fellow detectors.

Or a friend, relative, co-worker, etc. may have an old property and would be willing to let one have a go at it. I don't own a Victorian yet (or even a metal detector for that manner), but I keep my options open. The main thing is to have a positive attitude. Happy hunting!

Why are stones comming up through the soil on a farmers field? (And it's a FACT that they do). I've been told that ice forms under the stone forcing it up - millimeters at a time. Now, IF that is true could the same happen to artifacts?
