I just met Richard today at Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket and he is such an amazing person. Really passionate about his work and has great stories to tell. He told me about your video and I'm so happy I got to see one of his greenhouses in it. His collection of plants is really impressive! He told me that when he started his business he ordered the cacti seeds from around the world. Obviously there was no internet at that time, he was just corresponding with the sellers by mail. I will definitely stop by again to talk with him and buy him several plants. He needs our support for his business

Note to self 4:30 Summer April- October (as infrequently as once a month (bare minimum (not ideal), as frequently as twice a week (more often for more sun(make sure it dries out first)))) Winter November - March (no water at all) During growing season (summer) fertilize with fish-based fertilizer (if fertilizer is okay for plants I'm gonna eat). 8:55 for more info on plant nutrition.

Could you please do a video on fruit bearing plants like bananas, figs, berrys, apples, pears, citrus and all the others? Would love to know if you have any fruittrees in you home :). I have a banana plant inside, and apples, pears, berrys, figs, plums and grapes outside. Love Kippetje too :D

I like this guy! He's vibrant and talented! Thanks for interviewing him. Our cactus which was bought on a visit to family in Arizona, then brought home to NH, grew and grew, but grew all funky and droopy. I think Richard gave some clues here. I had lots of shoots, but just a real unattractive sloppy clumpy weird mass of cactus mess!

Ive been keeping cacti for 11 years. During grow season, if i have dead minnows after fishing, i bury them in the dirt for fertilizer. I also use miracle grow for succulents. But ive learned by trial and error over the years, exactly the tips this man gave. I start to reintroduce water around mid to late April, then start cutting back in mid to late September to encourage dormancy. I was hoping to see some of his specimens, like the 2 Notocactus species you 2 were holding in the thumbnail. Looks like a magnificent Magnificus and an absolutely amazing Leninghausii. Would love to see what else hes got thats in that kind of growth shape!!
