Cactus Was The Best Boogie Band Of The Early 1970s.... So Underrated. This Version Of Evil Is The Absolute Nastiest Thing That I Have Ever Listened Too... McCarty Guitar Is Sheering, and Bogerts Bass Is Rumbling.... Rusty Voice Is Grittier Then Any Blues Singer Of The Day, and Appices Drumming Is Unbelievable, Like Cannons Firing Bombs All Over The Place.... Fully Unleashed, Indeed!!!

Cactus was one band no Headliners wanted as their back up band because they were so Good. Ted said Jimmy McCarty is the best guitarist that ever came out of Detroit. Top three in my books along with Dick Wagner RIP :) Peace

Seen them many times in the early 70's in the Buffalo NY area, small club (Gilligans) and opened for Rod Steward at the old Aud. They stole the show there, Rod was almost booed off the stage. They were just one GREAT band, They rocked, Tim's bass rattled your chest. True Americana Rock!

I saw Cactus with Alvin Lee 10 years After, at Capitol Theater Porchester Ny early 71 ish, They changed everything for my guitar playing and Alvin had to work to follow them. Saw em again at Poconos. Most underrated mega band. Atlantic Records should have promoted. Thanks for the post.. excellent

Holy shit this is absolutely gnarly. Shame they couldn't get this kind of sound on their studio albums - always felt "Restrictions" was a bit too subdued but this is just insane. Wish they did more with the riff than improv, but hey this is one hell of a take on "Evil"

the most pheomenal rock band of all time. I get pissed off with all this Led Zep comparisons, Cactus were in a league of their own! One thing though why is there no film from the early days?
@paullevine18137 жыл бұрын
I was going to chime in here but you beat me to the punch. With hundreds of photos why did no one ever record this great band on film. There is some footage of the Allmans at Atlanta Pop so there was some filming going on why did no one capture one of the greatest 70's Live bands on film. I guess we have to enjoy the legacy of those early days through our speakers on volume 10. Your also very right about comparisons & the same thing was done when NYs Sir Lord Baltimore hit the seen in 1971. They got billed as the American version of Zeppelin when they were just a great hard rock three piece band with no ties to LZ. I believe much of this was down to the record companies & the rock media of the time. Both Cactus & Sir Lord Baltimore were there own bands with no ties to Zeppelin & neither ever even recordred any LZ tunes nor toured anywhere near Zeppelin.
