I just now found your videos and realized I have been doing everything wrong! I have a collections of hybrid aloes and love them (started buying them about 2 years ago) - I realize I have taken the pups off wrong - i am surprised some of them have lived! I will be watching all your videos and beg my plants forgiveness ( I do talk to my plants) Thank you!!

My environment is so humid. One time, I accidentally left my lace aloe and zebra aloe out of their pots for 5 weeks! I really did not expect them to survive. I figured they would go into shop once put back into soil. But, in the end, they really took off! So much so that, now they have pups that are going to need to be removed from the mother and potted on their own!

Hi, Ana! I’m new to the cacti “crazy” community! LOL and to my pleasure your channel popped up as a suggested channel. I have watched some of your earlier videos and of course am now a new subbie to your channel. As I said, I am new to the cacti hobby and only have about 50 different species. I live in Missouri with hot humid summers and cold winters, and this will be my first year in overwintering and basically learning everything in general. Happy that I found your channel and looking forward to what you have to share! 🌵

Good job repotting that super nice Aloe, Ana. Although I know someone *wink wink* who prefers that as a clump. 😊 You’re right on the type of potting mixes too. We should always consider the weather, humidity level and temperature when choosing what should go in the mix. Thank you for the info, sis. Mabuhay ka! 🤗🥰

@@CactusCaffeine As I live in a climate which is not exactly ideal for succulents (near the North Sea), I better admire most of them from afar, such as in your videos, where I see them thriving :-) But, just recently I got a little Haworthia cutting that I am trying to root... Nice video Ana. I love this Aloe, the one you sent me is doing very well, no offsets on it yet but I don’t think it’ll be long before it starts producing them. Did the one you send originally come from the plant shown in this video? I’ve started recycling my soil now too as I use pumice in my mixes I don’t want to waste it, it’s on the expensive side in the UK and not always easy to obtain. Thank you for sharing another awesome video with us Ana, have a great upcoming weekend 😊🌵☀️🌸☕️
@CactusCaffeine5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the one I sent you is the first offset I got from this plant when I re-poted it just after I bought it. I’m glad yours is doing well. This aloe does not do good right after I disturb its roots but it bounces back after a few weeks. 🙂 Oh yes, pumice is expensive. That is also another valid reason to recycle good soil. 👍🏼😊 Enjoy you weekend, too Daz. Cheers from Las Vegas to UK. ☕️☕️

How many time do you reuse the potting mix? Do you recycle the grit part (pumice, perlite, tuffa) by washing it and using it again with your new potting mix? Or, do you use the old potting mix for other plants like flowering annuals and trees?
@CactusCaffeine Жыл бұрын
I always recycle my soil and just mix it up with fresh new soil. The only time I don’t recycle is if there were pests in the soil or if the plant died from fungus.

Beautiful and great learning video. Say Ana. I have a Aloë Vera, a bigger size but nog huge. I always bottem water it (i keep it in a nurserypot as well). Is it a good way bottem watering it, or do Aloës prefer top watering. Do you have any experience with that? grtzzzzzzzzzzzz
@CactusCaffeine Жыл бұрын
For me, either way gets the job done. I do top watering because I have so many plants that bottom watering each pot will take forever to finish. Lol! But some plants, especially those planted in peat moss by the nurseries will benefit from bottom watering. Peat moss is hydrophobic, takes a long time before it reabsorbs water. So bottom watering is ideal in this case.

My mother plant "Aloe snowstorm" is white with green specks... but her pups came out more green with white specks, like yours. Is it like variegation that's reverting? Or is it just the younge ones that come out like that and gradually turn whiter?
@CactusCaffeine5 жыл бұрын
Oh. I am not sure about that. Because so far all of the pups that I have all look like the mother plant. That is unusual. 🤔🙂

Why do you need to dry out the roots before repotting?
@CactusCaffeine4 жыл бұрын
I dried the cuttings overnight to let the cuts (portion where the offset was detached from) heal and form a callous before they are planted in soil.
