I would’ve been nearly done cutting the profile by the time you got to the “part setup”. However, I think you know that being such a simple part shape.

For reference, I drew this from scratch and programmed it in about 7 mins from start to post using solidworks/hsm express. I wonder how proficient you are at cad/cam vs conversational, and whether this is going to be a fair comparison.

you have to keep in mind there is enormous amount of time wasted while talking on a video. If I had the tools in the machine already I would have shipped the part in 20 minutes.

@@TommiHonkonen Seems using a narrated video is not a good control for 'which is quicker'

@@andrewdiehl5746 Agreed, you can always film then narrate after.

I would have programed this on my Hurco conversational much faster .

Rather than making duplicate tools make use of the presets for each tool. One for aluminimum, another for steel and so on. That is if you are using the same real tool too.

You’re adding so much unnecessary steps to your CAM. The company who wants the job obviously has a 3D model of the part of they have the drawing like this. Tell them to send you either the drawing file, or the step file. I don’t believe you should be adding this time to a job redrawing a drawing. It’s not 1990 anymore get with the times lol.

I agree with that, if you got the model, it takes u 2 mins to program it, at least to me.

If you can do this under 1 minute then yes, you can do it faster then me on computer

@@adamkunzo3246 hey let's not forget,,now youhave to load it into the machine, people fail to think about that 10min process in Most plants! And yes I am VERY FAST with mazatrol!

For me I can't program on the machine while its running so I usually have the next couple of op's or parts already programmed on the computer and the run it off a USB. so whether or not programming on the machine is faster than programming on the computer its still faster to swap a usb for the next program. I also have access to the 3d models so I almost never redraw something.

Yes mazaks can be programmed while running a cycle,,just cant edit the one its currently running. That's how we program ahead. Every shop is different, to each there own. And the talent is different everywhere you go

To be quite honest I think I could’ve programmed that a mastercam in under a minute.
