Reacting (late) to the latest Fallout TV Show trailer

Idk if anyone has mentioned it to you but this show is actually canon to the fallout universe and it takes place 9 years after fallout 4 but its mainly going to be set in California where fallout 1, 2, and new vegas takes place which is very exciting for die hard fans of the games!

New vegas has like....a sliver of CA, and references areas in CA but thats about it.

Notice the NCR flag and theNCR fighting the Brotherhood. SHady Sands the capitol of the NCR, giant crater. This takes place 9 years after Fallout 4, thats what I read.

I can think of a few, by now: Castlevania. The Last of Us. Twisted Metal.. And I would even include movies like Mortal Kombat (2021), Detective Pikachu or Sonic the Hedgehog into the "decent" category. But yes, they´re rare :S

Yeah, the helmet doesn't open up like that in the games. It's the one thing shown in the trailer that they changed; probably for practical reasons.

According to a quick search, apparently Vault 33 is an experiment that tested how humans react to being overthrown by machines, having humans in the minority, and having machines in power over humans. I don't recall the that info being available in prior games, but I haven't played 1 or 2. Which both take place near the west coast, which is where the show takes place.

i think they are wrong to release all the episodes at the same time, waiting a week for every new episode builds suspense and hype, and gives people more time to analyze, rewatch and discuss the previous episode in a timely fashion.

But it benefits the people that get Prime Video to just watch this, they only will have to pay once, though even then, I totally see what you're saying and part of me would prefer releasing episodes weekly for that very same reason.

I can’t wait for the show too start 🙌🏻I was late playing fallout out games and only started when fallout 4 was released and I spent hundreds of hours playing it lol,I really hope they don’t rush into anything eg characters,factions,Creatures/animals and weapons I want this too be a multi season show rather than cramming everything into this one season and go on for years too come 🙏🏻.im looking forward too seeing the Supermutants and Deathclaw but hopefully a couple of seasons in then do it 🙏🏻

This is one of the few video game inspired shows that looks like the creators understand the assignment. The trailers have felt like Fallout. This is one of the few shows or movies coming out this spring and summer I'm actually excited for.

It’s just my guess that her vault has something to do with.. I’m not sure how to put it, but chemicals/gas in the air that affects the dwellers state of mind. Think Hallucigen/ that display vault in Nuka World

Trailer looks good. Problem is, we live in a decade where every trailer is deceptive or at least misleading. The director has been droning on about social commentary. Remembering that this is a tv series they will usually do what they usually do, aka make 2 ok episodes but then in episode 3 onward double down on social commentary trash. Anyways, ill do what i usually do & wait untill the whole thing is out & actual user reviews.

"Social commentary" is such a wide open subject though. If you're concerned about woke topics, that only makes up a small part of social issues. There's tons of other problems and injustices in the world that have nothing to do with wokeness, many of which were already on full display in every Fallout games

For those not versed in Fallout lore, it might be an ok watch. For those of us that grew up with Fallout from the OG game, the trailer shows that the series will be... meh. Add onto it that it is on Amazon, which means you WILL get ads interrupting the watch unless you pay up; the entire reason I cancelled my Amazon Prime sub. Just from the trailer, the largest plot problem I saw was with the Brotherhood of Steel character. He is supposedly a squire, the lowest rank in the Brotherhood, and he's plopping himself into power armor????? WHA??? Squires do menial tasks. Think the guy/girl that peels the potatoes for the cook. That's a squire. They aren't getting into a suit of power armor, they are cleaning it for the Knights/Paladins. They are also following the Bethesda formula for the show, which means a LOT of lore holes given Bethesda didn't follow the already set Fallout lore when they bought the IP in Fallout 3/4/76. Being an Amazon show, it'll likely also mean the show will realllllly dumb it down with the gore, drugs (ie, chems), etc, due to ratings issues and wanting to "appeal to the widest audience". Which is a shame. That was one of the reasons Fallout is so fondly remembered by fans of the OG games; it wasn't dumbed down and really gave you a BUNCH of "WTF! did they just do THAT in a game?" moments. But hey, they put in power armor and dogmeat, so...

I grew up on Fallout 1 and 2, and went onwards as well. I am definitely going to enjoy the series. I love the lore but at the end of the day, it's fiction and entertainment (both games and other media related to it) so I don't take it too seriously. Don't get me wrong, I had my "acccktually" moments in the past but meh... Why get stressed over it. Go nerdy with your closest friends, enjoy it with the newcomers, and again - it's just fiction. Cool fiction with political/social undertones, but fiction nonetheless.

ANYONE... including YOU... could do a 4 sec google and find out that answer. Aaron Moten as Maximus, a squire of the Brotherhood of Steel. - Even if he is, if that extremely minor detail is the biggest issue you can find, then it’ll be a great series. That extremely MAJOR detail unless they find a way around it, such as, he gets a field promotion to a rank that allows him to use power armor. Any squire trying to get into a suit of power armor near a Knight/Paladin is getting dragged by the scruff of the neck. MIGHT be executed on the spot. And that is what is in the TRAILER. You know, that short little thing that highlights PARTS of the show. And they have such a major plot hole IN THE TRAILER. Which then begs the question; what ELSE is going to be in the show that is nonsense? I picked out that detail from just knowing the lore and not even really paying attention to the trailer to find what else is going to be found that is nonsense to the lore.

@@mgass1354It seemed to me like he probably stole the armor after his knight got his shit kicked in by that Yao guai. He isn’t on screen with anyone from the BOS after that. They also seem to have set it up for his allegiance to only be in service of his own ends. This is just what I got from the trailer/s though.

Not every vault was an experiment. There were, I wanna say, 12 vaults that performed entirely to public expectation and sheltered people for about 20 years or so before reopening. Vault 76 was one such vault. Vault 8, what became Vault City, was another. We don't really know what's going on with Vault 33 as this show introduced it and Vault 4. We'll see what's going on with that.

Are you sure? I double checked just now and even the Fallout wiki says "vaults were actually a grand social experiment, each with a specific data-gathering purpose in mind" 🤔
