This is a traditional love song where the woman is saying she cannot sleep until her lover comes to her. She has climbed the highest hill to see the point of Stoer from which the men had sailed. Her lover had saved them when their boat hit the rocks. There are many well known versions of this song set to different melodies, Flora Mac Neil, and Ishbel MacAskill to name just two.
