Fusion 360 really needs to have a "nesting" function. Manually moving pieces to create a cut diagram is not very efficient especially if your project has many pieces to cut or even multiple copies to cut. With more and more woodworkers and now sheet metal workers using this great product, a nesting function would greatly enhance this cad/cam tool for them and myself

Hey Lars, thanks for these videos, there really helpful! It would be gret if you could point in the direction of your template tutorial please? I've spend quite a long time searching for the relevant one to no avail! Thanks!!

i have multiple of the same part. Do I need to duplicate the component? What do I do if I want to make 5 of the same part in the same stock?
@emslvmoddslv45685 жыл бұрын
Use, move with copy function on all parts.Of course after you layout the components.

In case you are looking to layout multiple sheets, ie nesting 4 sheets of ply with parts, This video will not show you how

I work with fabric so a given width but a continuous length. I currently layout for the size of the table 4mts but some jobs are multiple tables long. How can I create a toolpath that cuts the table then pauses so i can roll the next tables worth of fabric to X0Y0 and start again. I dont know if that makes sense, it does in my head.
@cadcamstuff7 жыл бұрын
Hi COVER IT! Australia Thank you for watching! You should totally be able to do that. One way could be to right-click your setup and select Operations and then Manual NC. Now you can input the code for pause (like M00).

Your unplanned "3rd" option is best of both worlds with a new file just for the CAM, but yet keeping the link to the original Model so it can update with changes. You can easily sort the issue out with the Joints. Rather than suppress them, you can just delete the Joints since you don't need it for the CAM file. Original Assembly (model) file stays unaffected. Today (2021) we have of course Arrange as a simple nesting tool and Manufacture Model which simplifies your Option 1, but to have the CAM in a separate file, there's some good tips here.thx

I'm re-watching LarsLive 71 and i'm not sure how you created the wood cutting template "1/2" plywood.
@cadcamstuff6 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil Geerling Thank you for watching! I created the rectangle and extrude the thickness, then saved it as its own file. Nothing special. But, the nice thing is that you can just insert those into a new file. Hope this is helpful. Best, Lars

How do you get the template to come in at the origin of the box? Mine doesn't do that, but cuts the box in half. My "box" doesn't have a bottom (another issue), but the center of the bottom of one of the sides is tied to the origin.
@cadcamstuff6 жыл бұрын
Hi Martha Gay Thank you for watching! You have to make sure that when you create the template that you draw that on that parts origin. Then it should be placed at the same place when you insert it. Hope you have an awesome day!

What is the advantage of three separate thickness files rather than making the thickness a parameter?
@cadcamstuff7 жыл бұрын
Hi Laurence Schenk Thank you for watching! Using parameters are totally legit!!

thats nice to cut multiple piece at one time but its time consuming to place each piece one at the time ! id like to see something that lay down every piece automatically with the space for the cutter in between

Around 23:00 ish you 'capture the position' a few times. Not sure what that does/why you bother

Please get married and adopt me! I have the CNC layout as a separate design, when importing other (linked) designs they were read-only - converting the linked designs' bodies to components allowed me to layout. Thank you both
