Not really a shortcut but what I sometimes use: Hit "l" to draw a line. First click starts the line and the second one finishes the line. But instead of releasing the left mouse button on the second click, one can also keep holding it. Fusion automatically now switches to the spline mode and one can continue a with a spline where the line has ended

Great job! I'm a ten years solidworks user and I work mainly with sheet metal module, also for complex designs. About 1 month I'm using Fusion 360 and I'm enthusiast, the approach is different and valid; although, I think, sheet metal module has to grow yet a little. I wait impatient Autodesk upgrades (example... normal cut). Thanks for yours tutorials!

Will there ever be user configurable shortcuts?
@cadcamstuff7 жыл бұрын
I for sure hope so :-)

Is there any way at all to configure shortcuts? Maybe through scripting? I would really like to map "Simulate" in CAM to a hotkey. Would save so much time.

Hi Benjamin Shaw Thank you for watching! Not at this point, but I know that the development team are working on something...Hopefully soon :-)

Hey Lars, can you discuss about 3d Printing? I'm working on a project but it's bigger then my print area about 5 times bigger. Is there a way to cut my model up to easily print up and then glue them together?
@muddyfox017 жыл бұрын
Hi Westchester: Try Netfab or Autodesk Meshmixer Works great for me (Y)
@cadcamstuff7 жыл бұрын
I would love to talk more about 3D printing! As muddy said, you could look at something like meshmixer or one of the other printing utilities.

Meshmixer works but you don't have very precise numerical control over where you place your cutting planes. How about putting extra workplanes into your model and using "split along plane/suface" and making separate bodies / components? Usually you will want to control to some extent where is a good place to cut the model not only dependent on the maximum print area of your printer, right? And maybe add some guides / glue surfaces to the parts so that they are easy to assemble? All that can be done during the design process right inside of Fusion 360 imho. On the other hand if you are starting out with only mesh data (like an STL file) then consider Meshmixer first. You just kind of have to eyeball the places where to place your cutting planes and you can only do one cut at a time (last time I tried anyway) then save out your part, do a CTRL-Z, do another cut, save out the model etc. There are some tutorials on youtube in the meshmixer channel and elsewhere. I hope that Autodesk will integrate all the extra functionality of Meshmixer into Fusion at some point and combine it with the precision functionality one is used to from parametric modeling. Good luck!

Hi Lars! As usual, I learned a lot! Thanks! But, what magic shortcut did you press at 21:03 to get OffsetFaces?! I searched for that command with "s" and all I find are offset and offset plane. :-(
@cadcamstuff6 жыл бұрын
Hi Hari Wiguna Thank you for watching! "Q" for press/pull and select the face. Then it becomes an offset face. Hope this is helpful
@HariWiguna6 жыл бұрын
Duh! Yes, I got that to work now (I was trying 'O'ffset) As you said, that push pull 'Q' does a lot! Thx Lars!

Hey Lars. I design signs and wood work. I usually work out Vectric Aspire. I would like to import/insert STL files to create toolpaths with my CNC router?

Lars, are there some gesture-based shortcuts as well?
@cadcamstuff7 жыл бұрын
Not sure what gestured based shortcuts are. Could you give an example?
@xring2227 жыл бұрын
I though I'd seen it on NYCCNC's videos somewhere...you hold a mouse button and drag to do...something? Repeat last command maybe?

Example : right click and go left = Undo. Right click and go right : redo. RIght click + down : new sketch !
