I'm struggling with making an adapter that has 3/4" mnpt on one end and 10mm x 1.5 pitch male threads on the other. both right hand thread.

I have been using OSG for years, great taps. Of all the brands I, personally, have used, they have lasted the longest. By far.

Thanks for your insights on threading. I learned a lot. I noticed in your discussion of thread milling you appeared to add a radius offset to the profile instead of the requested diameter offset. The simulation showed very shallow threads suggesting this error. In other words, you entered (nominal - pretap)/2 instead of what looks like it should have simply been (nominal - pretap).

Hi Lars, I want to put dwell 0.35sec before Z-up. How can I do? I am a Mach3 user and I put 0.35sec to the dwelling period in the tap dirll, but I cannot find any dwell in the posted code.

Hey Lars Great video as always! I was a little disappointed you didn't talk about thread milling Pipe tap's. Is there an easier way than having to model the taper for each npt? Thanks for any help you have!

Hi Beltaim Thank you for watching! I have never milled tapered threads. Only good old fashion tap handle. I will have to look into this a little bit....:-)...Thank you

Another great and informative video Lars! This is an area I have to try out, so will be very useful. But.... the title got me a little excited, as I thought you were gonna talk about form tools! PLEASE can you do a video on form tools? I have watched the John NYC CNC one which was really helpful, but I am still struggling a bit trying to get a slitting saw to work... THANKS!!

Lars, thank you for responding. This is not what I was looking for. You referenced two websites in your livestream. One was a source for taps that you have used in the past and the other was a Newman Tools Inc. You indicated that you had the link in the description. I did not see it. Thank you and have a great weekend. Britt

When thread milling, couldn't you just use the modeled threads? I haven't done any thread milling yet, but in my mind that's how I imagined it working.

I'm beginning to get worried about Lars influence. Seems to know what I want to ask next and sure enough, he's got a whole video on the topic. I'm beginning to think he's spying on my computer and what I'm trying to learn next. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Lars, at 33:38 you enter (major - minor)/2. Is the /2 a mistake and why the simulated threads look squared off? Would be nice if the thread milling options were aware of the existing hole diameter and allowed entering desired thread, perhaps from a pulldown, which after selecting fills out pitch and pitch offset.
5 жыл бұрын
I think thats a mistake from Lars (with "help" from the fusion developers making this very unclear from start) it's pitchDIAMETERoffset = nominal-minor(or rather pretap). I've struggled with this and realized that its not that simple. for example a 3,3mm pretap for a m4 thread with a 3mm treadmill will not work with an offset of 0,7mm.(its rather somhwere near 0,83 depending on your tool) Yes. It would have been easier if you could select your modeled hole (or type in your drillsize) and just select your threadsize and let fusion do the math for you

Thank you for the verification. The threadmilling that I've just started doing is on a CNC conversion, but I'm been successful, for m8, to use 8-6.7 for pitch diameter offset, three passes, with stepover set to (8-6.7)/3. However, in steel, with a multi-profile thread mill, I have to run this slowly or repeat the program two or three times. There's a big gotcha for us who mix metric and imperial, that the dialogs make unit assumptions that are not consistent with the document units, and the expression evaluator is finicky which is a bad combination. If I interpolate to create the starting hole, I have to remove a little extra material to hit the desired diameter. The results are much tighter than a tap. I wrote all this because you said that you needed to add a little more to the offset, and I'm wondering if you've discovered why or will point out a flaw in my method. While not as small as m4, I've not needed to with m8 (or m6.)
5 жыл бұрын
@@kentvandervelden I googled and found that John Saunders ( NYC CNC) had a calculator for offsets kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZjSY2egotGjjaM (Not 100% verified since i was in a rush and decided to hand-tap those 4 holes instead of spending time with fiddling around and making testpieces) its a bit annoying that you have to rely on a external calculator for something the cam-software should be able to fix with 3 given parameters (Thread, hole and tool-diameter)

Hey Lars, could you help me quickly? I'm trying to convert a bracket from a Left to a Right part.. but I can't find the right function in F360 to do this? I tried mirror function, but I get a copy and I only have to change hte direction/part itselfs for saving the two sperate files into a combined package of stl files for sharing it on Thingiverse. Many thanks and I'm a big fan of your video's and your positive way of presenting the show every time ! :)
